Re: Code Zero Sail

I calculated about $160 for UPS ground to New York. About $150 for USPS express and $57 for priority mail.

Re: Code Zero Sail

Forgot to mention that this sail is set up for a CL furler system. Would make a great light air option for any bluewater cruiser stuck in the duldrums. Check out this link to Practical Sailor for a review of some of the more popular CL systems: Practical Sailor - April 2011

Re: Code Zero Sail

What do you mean by "the sail is set up for a CL furling system"? Also, what is "CL"?
What size boat was the sail made for? Any pics?
Thanks.

Re: Code Zero Sail

Hi all, CL stands for continous line which is a furling system that got it's start with racing. My best explanation would be a furler that works off a furling control line that is "continous" in that it is joined end to end and rides on a furler drum. Just like a single line furler the sail is furled in by simply hauling in the control line.

The sail was originally made for a 40 ft. Beneteau with a head sail luff of 51 feet. The sail is brand new, only flown twice by the original owner. We bought the sail in December and never used it. The original owner claimed that in 7 knots of wind he easily got 4.5 knots of hull speed. I will post some pictures as soon as I get back to Key West.

hope this helps.

Re: Code Zero Sail

That helps. I still don't know what you mean by "set up for CL furling". Is there a high strength line along the luff? Anything else? Is the CL furler included?
Thanks.

Re: Code Zero Sail

It's a code zero sail meaning a asymetrical spinnaker with a reinforced luff (high strength line) designed to be furled on a continuous line furler. Furler not included. Thats all I got! You may want to check the practical sailor link in the original post. They do a much better job of explaining it than I can.

Re: Code Zero Sail

Update: just had the sail measured at Masthead Sailing in St Pete, FL and the numbers areas follows:

Luff-50
Leech-46.9
Foot-30.7

I watched and helped so I will stand by these numbers, Sorry for the misquote. I should have measures for myself instead on relying on what was was relayed. Paul at Masthead rated the sail as Good ++ which is one step below new. Its a nice A-sail just needs a good home.
