Here's a link to Yacht World. If you can't find a boat here, you will have to cruise some of the local notice boards in the yacht clubs in the areas you hope to cruise in.

I have a 1992 Catalina 34 in great shape that I just sailed back from Bahamas. Would you like to hear more about her?

Re: Cat or Mono for Caribbean live aboard

Within 40k it is hard to find something good when it comes to catamarans. You can find Geminis 3200/3400 around that price, but you maybe need to upgrade and add equipment and that is more dollar.

I crossed the pacific on a similar boat to the Gemini (a Endeavourcat 30). So an Endeavourcat could also be an option. Anyway, I would suggest a monohull for that money. One that is already equipped and ready to go. It takes more time than you would think when you start to upgrade and fix on the boat.

I guess you can find something good around 34-36ft for about 40k. If you find something in Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Trinidad etc, then you will prob. do a good deal,

Admitted bias as we own one.

An older Gemini (Endeavor Cat, Catalac and couple other older models) can be found in that price range. They are by far the better option if you can get one in your price range. You will spend 90% of your time at anchor and it's so much better to be able to look out the window and have a stable platform that a cat provides.

At $40k, they probably won't look pretty but your worst case engine situation is $3-5k for a brand new outboard. Get a survey as part of the purchase price and unless it turns up something bad, the rest of the issues should be cosmetic and/or do it yourself type fixes.

Re: Cat or Mono for Caribbean live aboard

Hi there, I have a Gulfstar 44 motor sailer, that would be ideal for your plans.
She is located in the Abacos, Bahamas. She is well within your price, and is ready to go.
She has a Bahamian Port Inspection Certificate, and is a very comfortable liveaboard. We have lived aboard her in the Bahamas for the last 5 years. She has everything that you would need, and then some. If you are interested then please let me know and I will email you a full specifiation sheet and photos. I look forward to hearing from you, kind regards
