Buying on this forum

So seen some good stuff and some good prices. But how does the buyer know that the piece of kit is going to show up?

Info greatly .

Re: Buying on this forum

Hi,

I've bought several things on the forum and so far so good. I did have the same thought but so far everyone I've dealt with was a long term member on the forum. I would be a bit more cautious if the offer was from a brand new member.

Re: Buying on this forum

You could ask them to list it on e bay and buy it through paypal.

I have purchased one item and had no problems. PayPal seems to make it pretty safe.

Bought so much stuff from eBay, private sellers and here ($4000 electronics, $26000 mast and gear) without a problem. Something about people who like boats I think.

Always a concern. I bought one set of items from a known member. Paid with paypal. Everything showed up as advertised. Also the value was not something I would lose sleep over if it went south. Couple of hundred bucks for an item worth over $1500 new.

My guess is someone with a few hundred posts is not gonna risk their online cred for a few bucks.

Re: Buying on this forum

How about this?

In 2 years or so of modding I am only aware of one instance of complaint by a buyer about a purchase and it seemed clear that there were two sides to the story, not just one.

No guarantees, YMMV, caveat emptor and all that, but I think that speaks pretty well for the odds around here!
