Boat trucking Florida to Washington State
We would like to ship our non-over height, 10.6" beam, 18,000lb sailboat from Florida to Washington State. Sooner is better than later. Departure port is flexible. Departure date is flexible. Arrival port is flexible. If you have the means to haul a boat this big and would like the work, then lets talk. Thanks for taking a look at my ad/post,
Élan

I used a company I found through a bid on uship. The quotes varied from $3000 to $900. The more time you have your shipment posted the better quotes seem to be. Just make sure to get insurance info from carrier.

Please check out auction site uship .com
great deals make sure they are well reviewed. Some shippers are idiots. Get everything dates quote including their insurance in writing first. Again great auction site they will bid for lowest best price.

Thanks I've used uship in the past, but was broadening my search here. I do know of one shipper that I've used before who was excellent. We will see what comes up this time.

We ended up using Bo Smith of Smith Boat Salvage. Worked out well. He can be reached at 601-201-9135

With his return trip figured out, it was around $3/mile.

It is 3,000 miles from Jacksonville to Seattle - so you paid $18,000??
or just $9,000 ??
Sounds very expensive

I would say a very smart kind of trucking company. I haul all over the US and CAN. I have no problem with deadheading, it's part of the business. What would you suggest a company do? Put the truck and trailer on a train!

No, we only paid for the one direction. He had a boat going the other way and that made the deal cheaper than the other quotes I received. We had quotes from $23,000 all the way down to what we paid. As a point of reference though, in the past I have negotiated $2.60/mile.
The entire shipping arrangement depends dramatically on how many boats are moving in one direction or another. Some routes are easy to get a good deal. Florida to Washington wasn't one of them. I still feel like we got a great deal considering and would highly recommend Smith Salvage. Most quotes were $4/mile or higher, and if Bo didn't have a return trip I imagine his rate would have been much higher.
