AIS-1000 from West Marine

$225. Perfect condition transmitter/receiver AIS-1000. Bought new in 2009 and Used offshore once with dedicated VHF antenna; I was able to spot ships as far away as 60 miles. Other than a function test prior to removal today, the unit has not been turned on in 5 years.

Comes with everything but the GPS antenna (too hard to remove from the permanent installation). Requires re-tasking it to your vessel. West Marine does this for a $50 flat fee including shipping back to you:

AIS Transceiver & MMSI Registration | West Marine

I will send full instructions to the buyer for getting an RMA. If you don't want to deal with the logistics, fill out the registration form above, send to me and I'll send the unit directly to West Marine for you and they'll ship it directly to you after reprogramming.

In addition to the GPS antenna, you will also need to either share your existing VHF antenna via a splitter, or installation of a dedicated VHF antenna. You will also need your own MMSI for registration of the unit.

All documentation and CD-ROM included.

I'm not sure exactly, but obviously some top shelf, leading man of a movie star they hired specifically for the video. Nice to see West Marine cares about quality in every aspect of their operations!
