Re: 60 foot sailboat ketch super cheap - $4900

San Diego Mooring Company, who runs the mooring this boat is on, sent out a notice recently regarding requirements for all boats on mooring to be seaworthy. Wondering if this is motivation for sale. Sounds like it might be an "ark" in eyes of company. Might be a rash of "great deals" becoming available soon.

Part of Mooring Co's notice:

The San Diego Unified Port District Section 4.08 - Regulations of Vessels; defines the required condition of a vessel to be "seaworthy"- A vessel in good material condition which is not likely to sink or become a menace to navigation or a nuisance, and which is capable of getting underway and navigation over the surface of international waters or high seas and not an "Ark" - A vessel which is incapable of navigation over the surface of the high seas and is incapable of getting underway; or which has no propulsion system.

As of 8/1/2013 the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is enforcing the vessel condition requirements found within UPD code 4.08 and also found (see # 14 of the Vessel Safety Check (VSC)). A vessel must pass all State and or Local requirements.
UPD Code section 4.08 can be found in its entirety on the Port of San Diego's website. Mooring permittee/vessel owners are responsible for adherence to this code section of the law.

In the event of failure to abide by these State and Local ordinances and your SDMC Maritime Moorage Contact, the registered owner, and or operator's permit will be cancelled and the owner, operator is required to remove the vessel from the said mooring immediately. If the vessel is not removed from the mooring SDMC can and will remove the vessel and store and or dispose of the vessel at the boat owners expense.

To far from me but the price is pocket change compared to her potential. If the hull is sound.

This would be a way to get out of your mothers house and have a place of your own.

Use your imagination. You could own a yacht. With a bucket or 2 of cheap paint she could spruce right up.

I think if you wait a bit longer they will be offering to pay for anyone who will tow it away (and assume all legal liability for vessel).

Re: 60 foot sailboat ketch super cheap - $4900

one more week it should be we will pay to remove--the interior, what there was of it is totally gone. the only thing this hard rock has going for it is hullis sound. deck isnot sound. solar panel was strippedoff, so was the firniture---it looks like crap---and has an extroardinary amount of seagull and frigate and osprey poop...inside and out--egads...
that hole in middle of floor used to be the engine room....use dto have a picnic table over it and used to also over heat.... badly....
