2000 Switch 51 Catamaran Grand Cruiser

Luxury performance catamaran fully equipped and ready for long distance voyaging. Vessel and all systems have been meticulously maintained and upgraded to very high standards. This is a turnkey opportunity!

“Following Tides” is a very well appointed and upgraded Switch 51 and quite fast. Yet, with her cutter rig, she is easily sailed by a couple. Over the past few years she has had several major upgrades. She sails circles around a Catana 471. In fact, during the Transcaraibes De Passion rally this catamaran won every single leg. On the leg from Puerto Rico to Cuba she finished 6 hours ahead of her closest competitor, an Outremer 53 catamaran. She averaged 16 knots for 12 hours! You might think, well, this is a racing cat. Not so. She is a luxurious high performance cruiser designed for short-handed sailing by Marc Van-Peteghem and Lauriot Prevost who have designed all of the Lagoon catamarans. The Switch is a Lagoon on steroids. She was built with super high-tech construction and carries dual carbon fiber daggerboards, so she points like a bandit into the wind. Here is a chance to own a fabulous performance cruising cat at substantial discount.

This is the three cabin/owner’s layout with the starboard hull dedicated to the owner’s cabin and a galley-up salon. Caframo fans throughout. There is wood paneling throughout.

The galley has a stainless sink with a mixing tap and triple filtered tap for pure drinking water, a saltwater tap for washing/rinsing dishes/hands, a Smeg 4-burner range, Smeg oven, 12 volt Coolmatic fridge and separate freezer, Xintex S-2 propane sniffer & control system, Xintex CO monitor, Spectra 15 gph 12-volt watermaker, two 20 lbs aluminum propane tanks.

There is a Splendide washer and dryer and Vacuflush heads in both starboard & port hulls, and Tankwatch 4 monitoring system & electric pumps.

Carbon-fiber daggerboards, Lewmar Winches: 2 x 64′s, 1 x 58, 3 x 50′s and one electric (new 2010) for halyards and main reefing., 2 bow pulpits with teak seats, a Transom Shower, 2 deck wash outlets, one with fresh or salt water switch, a folding teak-grated passarelle, new Rocna anchor with 100 meters of 10mm chain, and fenders and mooring lines. Teak cockpit table with additional folding leaf that will accommodate dining on deck for up to 8 persons. Two folding teak deck chairs.
