1988 Ted Brewer Alaska fully refit and ready to go

Ted Brewer ALASKA 43
$127,000

Hi, below is the information from the Ted Brewer design site followed by the actual boat information for ours. The design we have varies a bit from the stock Alaska in that the keel is 1 foot deeper and the boat is 1 foot longer in the aft. The pilot house is 6 inches taller giving 6'9" headroom throughout. We do not consider this a motorsailer due to it performing amazing in all wind conditions and we can easily get it up to hull speed in the wind.

The ALASKA was designed for an owner who wanted an economical, double chine, steel motorsailer suited for extensive cruising as well as live aboard use. The ALASKA is the result.
Despite her motorsailer design, her long waterline, well cutaway keel and tall, efficient rig will ensure good performance within the limits of her modest draft and husky displacement.
Featuring accommodations for 7-8 in four separate cabins, ALASKA is well suited to live aboard use and long range cruises.

The stall shower, large galley, inside controls and diesel galley stove will add much comfort for the crew as well. Ten dorade vents, twelve opening ports, and three skylight/hatches will provide adequate ventilation in all weathers.
The cockpit is on the small side but much of the time at the helm will be spent in the pilot house or on auto pilot. The flush deck offers ample lounging space in good weather, while the high bulwarks provide security in heavy going.
The mast is tabernacle stepped since the owner's plans called for European canal cruising in a few years. The rig is strongly stayed, of course, with double spreaders and intermediate backstays.

Economy was given considerable weight in the design. The double chine steel hull is, definitely, the least expensive of any one-off construction and the flush decks further simplify construction and reduce costs. There is little woodwork on deck to add to cost, or maintenance either.

Power is by a very fuel miserly Saab diesel of 30 h.p. However, larger engines up to 60-70 bhp can be fitted if preferred. In any case, the ALASKA will be easily driven due to her very long waterline so her generous fuel tankage assures a respectable cruising range.
The sailor looking for a versatile, simple-to-build and economical long range cruiser should give ALASKA a second glance.
