After owning this
Freeport for 8 years I went for a larger
boat and my first love needs a home.
Boat is located in
fort myers beach
Florida. I have sailed her to the
Bahamas, Isla mujeras,
Belize and Roatan
Honduras single handed. After installing a new 37.5 hp
beta marine diesel and
transmission I took her out cruising. The
engine now had about 800 hours and had been maintained to the highest degree. The
engine is as good as new IMO.The new
diesel sip
fuel at the rate of less than 1/2 gallon per hour while motoring at just over 5 knots. With the 80 gallon
fuel tank this gives you some range. The two 50 gallon
water tanks last about a month for 1 two weeks for a couple. The layout of boat is perfect for a couple. Perrovida has 2
marine ac units. A 5000 btu unit is a few years old and is dedicated just to the berth area. A
honda 2000
generator will run it dusk to dawn on one tank of gas. A additional 16,500 ac unit cools the entire boat when
shore power is available. Just painted the
deck last year as well as refinishing the
teak rail. Boat has engine or
electric heated hot
water tank, pressure water etc.
propane stove. 30 gallon
holding tank and maserator
pump out as very very few
pump out stations available outside us. Benmar AP, LOWFRANS
electric windlasd with 180 feet 3/8 chain 35 lb
cqr. Newer main. Old genny but works fine.
VHF, stereo.
Garmin 498 chart plotter with
depth sounder and temp and water speed. The anti foul was down last year and the bottom is in excellent shape , no known blistering.
Deck is rock solid. Previous owner shortend
mast by about 5 feet as to get under a bridge near his marina. It is nice along the
ICW with a fifty foot clearance. In 5000 miles of cruising never once wished my
mast was taller. Did always want to try some tight of light
wind headsail of some type though.
This is a old boat with lots that could be done but if I was to take her over to the
Bahamas or down island I would do the following.
1. Needs Frigoboat refer unit replaced. 2 hour job about $900
2. Has space for 6 golf cart battery's. About $88 bucks a pice at SAMs. This is a good thing, why pay for a existing batt bank that is most likely shot, start new
3. Inverter/
charger crapped out. It sure is nice to have this item but is not a necessity as the beta had a 100 amp
alternator with external VR. and auto switches
power to bank after start
battery is charged up.
So like I said its a old boat and there is lots you could do, or you could do what I suggested and
head over to the Bahamas and enjoy life in cruising mode. In fact I would be happy to install the 3 needed items for a six pack of cold coronas. The boat is currently behind my house in
fort myers beach. The house is a beach rental and is available on a monthly basis. It sure would beat the boat yard experience by a long shot. You could do any fix ups in AC. comfort then
head out. I will happily
sail boat a thousand miles to her new home for expenses after
purchase. Chuck. 909.273.7100
