1972 Aquarius 23' $1000

1972 23' Aquarius with original trailer

Has roller furling with a 120% genoa

Hank on jib for spare

Original trailer with inertia brakes

Swing keel

Inside is dry and original

Had it in the water all last season floors stayed dry

New lewmar hatch bedded in from defender. Does not leak

Good solid boat for anyone looking for a shallow draft swing keel boat that's easy to trailer. 2 people only needed to step and unstep the mast. I've done it a few times.

Titled and ready to go.

I could toss in a merc. 9.8 if you want for a extra $400. It runs but I believe it needs new points. I have redone most of the wiring that goes wrong with these older mercs.

Re: 1972 Aquarius 23' $1000

Great family boat. I've had two of them. Sailed the first one on both the Michigan and Illinois sides of Lake Michigan for 4 years, then moved her to CA and sailed the Newport Beach and San Diego areas for 7 years. Sold her when we moved to Texas; bought another one that we sailed in Galveston Bay for years; sold her last year.

Simple to work on and maintain. Really easy to launch with one person.

Re: 1972 Aquarius 23' $1000

Hello "Mud" - exactly what I'm in the market for, the only issue for me is geography (nothing against NJ - I used to work there in years past).
My question would be the towing issues, do you know the GWT & tongue Wt of boat & trailer together? Boat looks fine, although I'd like a couple more interior photos, maybe with a flash too. I'd also want the OB too, sounded fine (what year is the Merc?).
I appreciate the "dryness" comments, I spent 30 days as a resident of the bow berth/cabin on a boat where it "rained" on me every time we took a wave on the fore deck, which was every few minutes (LOL now, but I sure wasn't laughing then).
well, we can see where this goes ...
Best Regards

Re: 1972 Aquarius 23' $1000

Hey Soft..

No shame about the area... I know the feeling I drive all over the tri state area for work. Gross weight I'm going to guess to be between 3000 and 3500 pounds. The boat displaces 2200 with 800 lb keel so I believe the weight should be about 2200 dry if I'm thinking right. Trailer I'm gonna guess to be 700 or so pounds. Tongue weight is very light could not be over 100 pounds. I can picknup the tongue with minimal effort and even when I step on the transom with my little self the tongue picks up even tho the trailer axles are so set back it even suprised me. I've pulled it locally with my 4 cyl jeep and a f150 on the highway.

I would have to look at the merc again to figure out the year.

I should add as well the trailer could use maybe repacking of the bearings and 2 new tires. They would not go to far in the dry rot condition they are in. I only pulled the trailer locally maybe 20 miles total and never did a thing to it when I bought it almost 2 years ago.
