Bahia 46: things to watch out for on second hand vessel?

Hi All,

I have my heart set on an FP Bahia 46 or maybe an old Casamance and I've been seeing some cheap ex charters coming on the market recently.

So I'm trying to put together a laundry list of issues I should be watching out for. I assume that many of them would be fairly battered so I'm trying to assess what I would need to probably spend money on if I acquired one of the ones out there "priced to sell" .

Perhaps there are even some books around on buying second hand boats in general, but I'm curious about issues specific to the FP Bahia 46 if possible.

Hi Barry and welcome to the forum.

Have you tried to do a google search yet? Under the search tab use the second option. If you type "Bahia problems" you will probably get some results. You also can find specific threads on the manufactures forum for Fountaine Pajot.

Aha I am indeed acquainted with the powers of google. Indeed the search term "Bahia 46 problems" now brings up this very post as hit number one. Perhaps we can build up that shared resource?

I was hoping to gather some owner's experience together seen as it seems to be a popular boat. I will follow up with things I find around the web relevant or specific to the Bahia.

I wasn't advising a standard google search but one on this forum that only produces posts from here. I did on and found lots and lots of pages.

Why not just go here for all things Bahia 46.
