Solar Panels

I have three solar panels (190w each) measuring 62"x31" each. I'm want to mount them on top of the davits, need to build a frame and attach it to the davits. Any input, experience, suggestions, references or pictures would be appreciated.

Re: solar panels

Thanks Rocketman, I am familiar with Kato Marine they do beautiful work, I purchase my wind generator pole from them. I trying to see all the possibilities before I commit. It's a big job.

Re: solar panels

If you are planning DIY then look for cast-off tubing and such from someone who makes pulpits, stanchions, towers etc. My guy had a bin of hundreds of pounds of SS junk to recycle. Look here for clamps brackets etc. marinepartdepot.com Index

Good links here.

If you plan to hire the work then ask your boat neighbors including the power guys where they got their custom work done and what experience was like.

MIRELOS
I have a mahe 36 and installed 2 solar panels on my davits. They are 230watts each ans measure 31x62 each. The guy that made my frame is Mystic Stainless in Mystic Conn. He is very good and fair pricing. You can call him860 536 2236. If you would like to see pics of my install go to the Mahe 36 page same web site and go to solar panels. Any thing else email me direct at longislandsail@aol.com I keep my boat in Port Jeff. where are you.

Re: Solar Panels

Mirelos,

The support framework on my Belize shown in this photo was manufactured by Hermanos Brothers Welding in Guyamas, Mexico. It was based on my description of the arch we saw on a sister ship, Rapscullion, in La Paz a few months earlier. It incorporated the existing handrails into the structure to help in mounting.

PM me if you need more information or details.
