Re: Loose Fontaine Pajot Rudder on Venezia

Can anyone out there give me a heads up on what to expect when I slip the boat next month for its antifoul and also to repair my loose rudder stocks?
They have gradually gotten more of a wobble over the last couple of years and I have no idea whether there is a mechanical bearing or a bush system used.
Looking forward to the experience of others
Thanks
Graeme

Graeme, it is most likley that your lower bearings have siezed due to corrosion and the shafts are now rotating in the inner plastic race which is wearing, hence the increase in movement.
You can replace the original sperical bearings which I did, but if I did it again I think I would machine up some solid bearings out of bronze which should last a lot longer.
