Hi, I am new as a poster but have been reading threads here for about 4 years during our search for the perfect compromise for us as a couple with 3 teenagers.
We have seen a lot of
boats over the last 4 years.
It ended as a choice between
Orana 44 and
Lagoon 440.
Have just agreed on a
price for an
Orana 2008 Quatour- one owner only, not chartered , awaiting
survey including sea trial.
We have read all we can, and what we are most concerned about while we still have the chance to pull out , is
osmosis and structural intergrity.
If you compare the looks of the two, the
Lagoon looks more solid and beefy.
A part from the concerns mentioned above, I am also focused on the ability for me to do a daysail completely alone, and to minimize
maintenance. (For example I feel that the less
parts, especially penetrating below waterline, the less
maintenance costs- So if I could have gone for an Orana 44 with only two heads, I would)
Does anyone have some good
advice on;
1. Where to look for dodgy things during the
survey
2. What you think of the comparison between the two
boat types based
on my comments?
3. Should we be concerned about the slenderness of the Orana?
4. Does anyone know what a total
osmosis treatment (repair) would cost?
