All the figures I gave are with standard factory
rigging and ıncidence
sails, no folding prop, no
spinnaker, whatsoever, but with perfectly clean bottom. In the area where I navigated there rarely is any kind of
current more than 1 knot/hour and the readings are speed on
water not SOG. (which I assume
GPS reading could be a
knot or perhaps 1,5
knot below, in case of down
wind sailing)
The issue has been discussed several times: I was told to keep the
gear disengaged and fully pushed down to bottom in reverse. In that case there is no
noise / vibration form the sail drive and I can do 0,5-1 knots more under sail.
As far as I know, all new FP's are coming now with standard top square main and if they didn't decreased the total sail area, they could even perform better.
