Orana 44: Mysterious Midships U-Ring Clip

I am sure I'm having a DOH moment, but can anyone tell what's the purpose of the through-bolted clip, located midships atop the salon roof underneath the boom? Is it for a preventer? I'm not sure I'd trust it for that, but for the life of, can't figure out what it's for ....

Offshore jack line attachment point would be my guess.

Hi -- just back online after the sail to Mauritius ... appreciate all the suggestions -- I don't think it can be for jackline, since it sits astride the traveller, and any jackline would tangle in the jib sheets .. methinks it is used by the factory to lower the roof onto the deck ... it seems nicely balanced for that ...
