Helia help needed

Hi we are going to look at a 2015 Helia on Monday with the view to buying it.
We have been boating for over 40 years so know what to look at in general.
My question is what specific things to look at on Helia's
Thank in advance

Re: Helia help needed

Hi kiwinz1

wish we had an active Helia Forum, which I'm probably about to find out we do, which would make it worth it anyway...I just mean I always love to hear anything Helia from my Brothers and Sisters, but the posts are mostly around 5 years old and the boats are still out here and new people need to know stuff all the time...
anyway, if you're serious, please put up even a partial list of what you have so far to look into more particularly, even if you already made your decision, because it could help someone, and me and others may add to it.

I'll give a hint, your list should include something about:
the escape hatch....uh....for public safety I need to say it needs to be complete frame updated, and then its a non-issue, but until fully fixed its a potential off the chart catastrophe, nuf said but if you don't know you must look it up--and by the way can we please all acknowledge loudly and often that on this website
AllenRbrts
was a prominent one of several people instrumental in helping FP make the wise decision to recall the hatches-this Cruisers Forum post-er SAVED LIVES brothers and sisters--don't know ya but love ya man

so hatch--if not frame replaced seller will do, period, not costly
is the bowsprit on it
condition ALL ac units in serious detail
can water collect in pockets where hulls join center section
how hard to get mainsail down
does it have screecher..cuz you want one (why bowsprit thing)
the Volvo 55's are worth it and are almost unkillable horses, accept higher hours if needed (to me, trust others if they disagree though, didn't take a giant poll)
etc
oh and if it seems like I'm putting her down:
1 vote for best boat for the money on the planet, if anything more so now they are not new, for many reasons. Not that there aren't awesome alternatives, and soon there will be used in the many subsequent models that copied her...

Good luck on your adventure

I'd suggest joining the Facebook group for Fountaine Pajot (all) and another group, Helia. There is a lot of model specific information in those groups.

FYI in regard to the Goiot emergency hatch replacement we own hull #228 from 2018 and have just received our hatches so I would expect a 2015 to have them installed if not worst case received.

Re: Helia help needed

Different track but does anyone know where the ACU unit resides in the hull. I updated the AXIOM software for the boat across all units and now the heading is not there and the AXIOM network cannot find the compass via the ACU. I have a flashing red led on the compass and I also dont know if that is good back or ugly? Any thought would be appreciated, key words (FP Helia 44 EV1 ACU compass heading)
