Orana 44: FP Engine Room hatch dimensions for engine removal.

Hi all

Volvo is replacing our two engines because of some US emissions law.
I am in RSA in lockdown and the FP 2012 Orana 44' yacht is in the Caribbean and I don't know anyone at the marina to ask either.

Volvo requires the dimensions of the engine room latch - in order to check the accessibility of getting the existing engines out and the new replacement ones back in.

Is anyone near their Fountaine-Pajot 44' that could pass me the measurements please?
(I guess it could be available somewhere else on the net as well, just thought it ok to ask it here too).

I saw your message now while researching removing my motors as well. :-)

I'll be at my boat this coming weekend and can check the dimensions, if you still need the measurements.

Did Volvo contact you direct for this replacement, and what is the cost?
I'm on a 2008 Orana that will also end up in Florida in the new year, so this might be something I will need to look at as well I suppose.

I did get a rough dimension of 2,5' x 2,5'

No Volvo did not contact me. I had the vessel since Febr.2018 but never registered the change of ownership with Volvo, so they could not contact me.

You must have had your vessel USA registered before the law enactment. Not sure when that is, but definitely before June 2019.


Volvo covers the costs so I don't know what it will be.


You need to make contact with your local Volvo agent and they must contact Dana at +17573824095.
