Are there Fountain Pajot years and or models that people would recommend Avoiding? I'm looking to find out what years/models are prone to major issues.
My wife and I are looking to buy a FP between 35-45'. I'm able to spend 1-2 months of solid work and $150k all in before sailing with my family in the Caribbean and if all goes well a circumnavigation. Yes, we are newbies that caught the bug.
There is 38' Fountain Pajot (charter version) in Saint Augustine, FL for $120k
It is very clean with a water-maker, full electronics and motor dingy included.
We looked at it last weekend. We need an owners version so we took a pass but this will be a good Cat for some family.

Hi there ,
Yes , by far the worst model as far as Osmosis was concerned is the Lavezzi, a 40’ cat , the older model are much better , the Orana , a 44’ also has major issues with Osmosis , the Venezia , a 42’ model is fantastic if you can find one .
Cheers
Maybe avoid anything made post GFC for a couple of years, ie 2008 - 2010, this is when some boat builders sought to save money with inferior resin or poorly executed construction efficiency. In any event a lot of these osmosis afflicted boats had the bottom sand blasted and an epoxy coat applied which prevents the osmosis issue. Even so it will have depreciated the value of these particular boats so if the remedy has been applied they are probably pretty good for the price..
