Cleaning interior cushions

We recently removed our Helia from charter and I am in the process of major cleaning.
I have noticed our interior cushions, the dark brown version, look dirty. It sort of looks like a wax coating of some sort has begun to sluff off of the cushions.

Does anyone know a good cleaning product for the FP factory salon cushions?

I am looking for a product to clean the cushions and remove this waxy stuff.
Then I would like to know what to use to keep the cushions in good shape going forward.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Mary Grace

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

I have used Krud Kutter on grease stains on my velvety auto upholstry. Worked great and did not leave a stain. Might be worth a try. I have only ever found Krud Kutter at home depot. But I love the stuff!

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

Good question -- we have the gray interior cushions and I noticed they're already picking up dirt. I've been using upholstery cleaner on them, which also moisturizes the material, and that has worked fairly well so far. But we haven't had major stains to deal with yet.

On this strain, however, I AM having difficulty cleaning the white vinyl material that FP uses on the ceilings and the top half of the boat (not the bottom interior of the boat... they're two different materials on our 2015 Helia). Does anyone have a recommendation for cleaning that white vinyl cloth-like covering inside the boat? It's inside the port forepeak, the tiny one that sleeps one person, and it gets badly scuffed from pulling things in and out of the hatch.

Thanks!

Tasha

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

We use an industrial purple degreaser from home depot. It's purple, dilute it with water scrub with a soft brush and lightly hose them off. Then treat with a vinyl protector after they dry.

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

My last post prompted an auto link but its to the wrong product. Don't use the rust remover. You need the original krud kutter. This stuff will not damage the fabric, cleans just about anything and did not leave weird marks or crushed nap on my upholstery.

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

Thank you for the suggestions. What is on my cushions doesn't look like a stain but is more like a dried sluffing.... so I think the idea of cleaning them and then adding a vinyl protector sounds like what I need to do.

Cheeky Monkey, I use Fabuloso diluted with warm water on my ceiling and on the walls in my staterooms. I use a very mild mixture and this seems to work well for me. And for a lot of other things.

I have found Fabuloso all through the Caribbean.

Others may have thoughts on this product as a general use product. I have only used it here so I don't have long term experience.

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

I have removed them from the foam and washed them in a washing machine before. It worked really well getting them clean. I just washed them luke warm on gentle cycle with detergent as the detergent gets rid of body oil and sunscreen oil etc.
It is a lot of work getting them back on the foam though but very doable.a
But wait... are yours vinyl? Mine were upholstery cloth.

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

If they are fabric, try putting them on when still a bit damp. Before shrinkage.

Re: Cleaning interior cushions

Hey Tasha, I've used a spray laundry fabric cleaner for the headliners. Works like a charm!
