You are right, it looks a bit strange and what’s more: how do they reach the end of the boom??
Anyway, It is good to know that you can, if necessary, replace the canvas bimini with a solid one.
Release the topping lift and lazy jacks.. May have to swing to boom sideways to get it low enough.

I'm 1.78, is that tall? Tall enough to bash my head?
(1.78 = 70.07 inch = 5ft 10.079in)

I am 1.80 and can easily bang my head. But I rarely do. One gets used to watch the head. I can aldso bang my head in every bulkhead as the doors are just too low but it happened maybe three times so far.
I would not raise the bimini just for that reason. I prefer the nice and flush lines of the original bimini.
We had a raised canvas bimini in our last boat and I did not like it. The clears in front were becoming blind so we removed them which led to a very wet and windy Cockpit.
