Re: Astrea 42 owners

I have seen previous posts where all numbers less than 80 were mentioned. I have just ordered my Astrea 42 but have not been advised of the hull number yet. It's due for pick up in November 2021.
Will let you know when I find out!

Re: Astrea 42 owners

Hey Stephen! I was supposed to cruise to the Bahamas on your Saona right when COVID started... How's everything!! The order was placed back in 2019 on a Saba. The pandemic made me downsize to a Astréa... If you remember, I'm in the events business.. The losses are in the 8 digits..... Still is very weak on the business side...
But I am very excited to get my Astrea this fall...
We will be spending 2 months this fall in La Rochelle. Can't hardly wait.

Re: Astrea 42 owners

Of course I remember you. I follow you on Facebook Event planning! What could have been hit harder, but you seem to have adapted remarkably. After our aborted trip to the Bahamas on my new Saona 47 last year due to Covid we sailed it north to Annapolis during hurricane season. When I arrived, four months into Covid, I realized it might last another four months so I sold it for what I paid (less a healthy commission), bought a house on the lake in the mountains and a Jeanneau 349 in San Diego. I think the 42 may be the perfect boat. My thinking that the 47 would be like my Beneteau Sense 50 was bad thinking. The 47 is so big that berthing and handling was a chore. I like the 42 with an inside helm much better than the 40, 45 and now the new 47. I know you will love your Astrea. They are very complex with lots of systems and most of us had significant teething issues. Enjoy!

Hi, My name is Philippe, iSpinnakers.com. We are designing an asym for an Astrea 42, and can not find the I and J dimensions, or even a rig plan - if anybody can help us with that infomation, we would be happy to post some engineering views and dimensions of the sail that we come up with -

It is very useful for people that sail wide open venues, or ocean crossings - not so good if you sail the long island sound. With the tack on the windward hull, the sail is away from the main sail shadow and you can run at very deep angles. This particular one is 142 sqm, with a luff of 18 meters. I have attached some 3D views (the "virtual" pole is an effect of our design SW, this is really a tack set on the (windward) hull bow).

Re: Astrea 42 owners

Hello. I am looking to buy a second hand Astrea 42 early next year and would love to chat with some current owners about the experience of owning and sailing an Astrea 42. Many thanks in advance! Rob. Rdholmes at gmail dot com

Re: Astrea 42 owners

Hello all! We are actively looking for an Astrea owners version. We are a family of 4 hoping to set sail in Jan/Feb 2024. 4 months!! Who has an Astrea they are ready to part with? We just finished a trip to Ft Lauderdale to look at boats we have been watching and nothing is really striking us as The One! Obviously we have to get less picky soon so we can make the dream happen and make additions to the boat, but I’m hoping by putting a bit more energy out there we can find our girl! Anyone? Thank you!!!

Re: Astrea 42 owners

Have you tried the FP Astrea Facebook page. You might get lucky in there. I can only say that you are looking at the right boat. We love ours. Unfortunately, not ready to sell it and when we do, it will be to move up in space.
Good luck in finding your dream boat!

Thank you ever so much Marty! We are crossing our fingers to get one. Unfortunately I can’t join the Facebook group without already owning an Astrea. I’ve tried to join, but you need a hull number and s/v name…we’re not there yet but anxious!

Any chance you could post for me? My email is torreybenson@gmail.com
