I don't recall the specifics, but I understand that Bonus depreciation (Section 168(k) of the tax code) was preferred over Sect 179 for our purpose.

We're planning on utilizing some accelerated depreciation. I strongly suggest anyone looking at potential tax advantages/risks/requirements consult a qualified independent tax specialist.

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

My wife and I are excited to be joining the ranks of future Astréa 42 owners, as we have put down a deposit on hull #15. She is currently scheduled for delivery in the Caribbean in December 2018, where she will be put into DYC's charter fleet. Time to start thinking about a proper name

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Hello everybody.
I am following this forum since quite a while and just registered. After owning some small boats, many years of chartering (and being quite unhappy with it again and again), we finally decided to "do it" and go for our own catamaran. After visiting La Grande-Motte lately and seeing Astrea #1, we are very happy and looking forward to receive hull #5, hopefully before summer 2018.
She well be an owners version, just for private use. As we have no confirmed delivery date yet, planning is rather difficult. But we definitely need to bring her from La Rochelle to Emden (Germany) this year, and hope to be able to sail her to the Mediterranean before the end of the summer season, probably somewhere in the south of spain.
Looking forward to share any information with you all.
Regards from good old Germany, Munich, Oktoberfest city.
Cheers, Thomas

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

I ordered the boat with Copper coat but now I got the notice FP stopped applying this kind of antifouling because they have attachment problems with it.
Anyone any experience or advice?

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Hi Thomas:

Congratulations - you will be the first one on here to get the Astrea so far - anyone earlier than Hull#5 reading?!
You are so lucky to have it before summer - hope they are on time as it will be a perfect time to sail around France back home. I used to have a boat in Portsmouth (UK) many years ago and sailed close to Netherlands, but never up to Emden - I hear it is beautiful sailing grounds. I'm sure everyone reading here will be delighted to get your assessment of the Astrea and know about any issues you experience. Keep us posted on delivery time!! (And post pictures when you get delivery).
I'm in Hamburg in June so you better not have delivery then or you'll have a stalker!!

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

I see that Yacht World has posted a nice walk through of the Astrea 42 on YouTube today. https://youtu.be/lE5ZBpUlm6I

Its a nice video from La Grand Motte show - nothing new here given what has already been posted although they do compare it to the 47 very favorably - the most amazing thing from this video is he mentioned how many Astrea's were sold at/prior to the show - 130 boats, sight unseen!!! Incredible. I personally know of several Astrea's sold after that time so goodness knows what the total of vessels sold is right now. Given that manufacturers typically get c.250 boats out of a mold, is it possible that the full run could be sold this year!? Wow. 2 year wait list now. Start hiring help and use that new factory space FB!

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

I noticed that there are two Astréa 42 available for booking with DYC in Grenada starting in December. Curious if they belong to anyone on this forum (?)

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

A few updates:

1. Fountaine Pajot has now created a virtual tour using real pictures (as opposed to the CGI previously). There is a gallery of pics of her sailing from La Palma also. Here's the link:

http://www.catamarans-fountaine-pajot.com/en/sailing-catamarans/catamaran-astrea-42/

2. A reader here PM'd me to let us know that the Astrea 42 has been announced as the Winner of Boat of the Year by the French Voile Mag. Details are also on that link.

Any more new owners out there please join us!? Anyone sailed the Astrea yet??

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Hi Thomas,

I have great memories of too much sausage and too much beer at the Oktoberfest in the early 1970's!
Congratulations on your purchase ....I think this model will be very successful Best Wishes Alan

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Does anyone have the full spec sheet/options price list for the Astrea that they can post. Searching everywhere and have requested but no luck so far.

Re: Astrea 42: Owners?

Thanks Lee for the info. A great place to start.
Was hoping for the base FP list in Euros as exch rate fluctuating alot at the moment and looks like with base of 345keuros the price list you have equates to a 1.22 exch rate vs todays at 1.17.
