Adding Bowsprit

We need to add a bowsprit to our Bahia and was wondering if anyone has added one on to the plate that the headsail attaches to?

There are two holes in the plate that I was told could be used to attach a "A" frame style bowsprit, with a hinge to flip up the frame and secure it when not in use (this might have been an option from FP).

Does anyone have any details or ideas?

Thanks,

Keath

Re: Adding Bowsprit

Been thinking of a bowsprit as well. Intend re-crossing the pond next year to the Caribbean and then the Pacific 2 -3 years after that and they both have a lot of down wind stuff.
Requires a big bit of cloth out the front. Bugger, more money.
Soooooo, what is best investment?
Would rather put money into a decent chute than a bowsprit so we are seriously considering the Parasail.
Also works for beam reaching. Mind you, we fortunately have two tracks on the forestay and I didn't throw out our old gennie, so can run two gennies for straight down wind stuff.
