The version recompiled against the current API of OpenCPN 2.4.523 published. For download links, go to PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage
Hopefully this is the last change that will stay with us during the whole 2.5 series....
Note that the naming of the DLL changed, so please remove the old version manually.

This has nothing to do specifically with the WMP pluging, but when you give a link such as

opencpn.org/downloadplugins

neither (my install of) Firefox, IE nor Chrome can open it
as they require

www.opencpn.org/downloadplugins

which I correct manually

Either you have some feature that auto-completes the address (which would play havoc with my own website adress that has no front www) or I have my browsers misconfigured.
I've pointed out the problem before in a thread, but got no answer I could understand.
Hope you will explain what goes on...

Technically this is a DNS and webserver configuration thing:

c:\>ping opencpn.org

Pinging opencpn.org [74.112.248.86] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 74.112.248.86: bytes=32 time=185ms TTL=51

Means that DNS is set correctly and it's possible to resolve opencpn.org (without www.) to an IP address. It also means that my ISP is working correctly in resolving it for me...
You should get the same if you do

ping www.opencpn.org

The webserver config is virtually impossible to check from the user's side, it either works or not (but for opencpn.org is set correctly and www. is not needed)

If it's not working for you I would probably blame your ISP (which is probably going to ignore you if you ask them or will tell you that they do it intentionally "for your own good and safety")

Will try to remember that I have to post the links with www. at the beginning next time...

Any likelihood of a MacOSX version now that a Beta OpenCPN has been built for that platform?

Buy me a macbook and consider it done I have no Mac available, so you or someone else has to compile the plugin himself. Should be without problems.

Will it work better on windows 7?


Does the plugin actually alter the course and bearing or just give you the variation?

I really can't imagine how the plugin could crash the whole machine, let apart you are the first reporting this.
Could you please post the relevant part form your logfile? To find it, have a look at Installing OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage
