It will give up, but to be honest I currently have funnier work to do than spending time fighting with this on an awfully slow virtual machine.

Hi Pavell,
Thank you for the update.
In the meantime, I bought a cheap usb gps and it works really well. Saying that I would rather like to use the internal gps so it would be great to keep us p to date and let us know what we can do to help you, even if it is to send you encouragement
Talk to you soon,
Philippe from Libertine

Well, the (BT) specs are already there (I believe 100m range) but where is the hardware? I mean the nmea data has to be sent first before it can get picked up and interpreted.
I simply cannot see many BT multiplexers / routers around. Can you?

So true! You should upload a "BarnakielTooth" spec to the forums claiming a 1000km wireless range along with the question: why are people using WiFi?
interesting to note that Digital Yacht walked away from BT in the case of their NMEA multiplexers - the existing hardware could already be found all over digikey.com!

Re: Windows 8 Tablet with built-in GPS
Hi,
Yes, I tried and did not manage to make it work. I send an email to the company asking what I have to tod to make it work because someone else with the same spec computer succeeded.
Still waiting for answer.
If you know more, feel free to let us know.
Kind regards,
Libertine

Yes, I did... After searching for months, I found the answer in another forum: a utility called Localizer: Centrafuse Inc. - Centrafuse Loclaizer
It works perfectly on my ASUS VivoTab, so it should work fine with the Vaio Duo 11 as well... it only costs $15 so it's well worth it... it reads the internal GPS and spits out NMEA data to a virtual COM port...

Re: Windows 8 Tablet with built-in GPS
Hi all,
A few days ago i found a Small executable here which is called geolocationtcp.exe.
It works on My lenovo tab2 but somehow the position is off. It shows me in the UK in stead of the Netherlands, but when i move the location seems to respond.
Unfortunatly i cannot find the thread and the writer anymore. Does anyone know who wrote this?
Regards,
A Dutch guy

Re: Windows 8 Tablet with built-in GPS
I have downloaded OpenCPN and followed the instructions at https://bitbucket.org/petrsimon/geol...ntcp/wiki/Home.
I am using NOAA raster charts at the moment. I will get new CHS charts later. I will get the BSB 4 plugin and other plugins as well.
Everything worked great, after I figured out that I needed to start Geolocation first. Using the built-in GPS the fix on my phone matches the OpenCPN fix.
ASUS Vivo Tab Smart ME400C-C1-BK
Thanks for all the help.
I will be in Vancouver in January and will check everything out there as well.

Re: Windows 8 Tablet with built-in GPS
Hi
Very good job with the GPS-patch.
Looks very promising with Win tablet and Opencpn (to my surprise).
I have found this:
Toshiba Encore - Microsoft Windows
And its priced very reasonably and have inbuilt GPS.
Will it run Opencpn?! Will all Win 8.1 run Opencpn?
