I have a puzzling connection problem with my Holux GR-213 puck-style GPS
On the NMEA
debug window I can see the coordinate sentence with the correct coordinate, but OpenCPN
isn't using it.
I am using Windows 10 with the latest updates installed and the latest stable version of OpenCPN
5.0.0+9065270. The Prolific USB to Serial
port is installed and configured. OpenCPN sees the COM port and when the connection is added, the NMEA
debug window shows the following sentences:
<GREEN>10:36:36 (Serial:COM3) $GPGGA,033637.708,0750.1580,N,09830.5293,E,0,00,,-0.6,M,-25.2,M,,0000*75<0x0D><0x0A>
<GREEN>10:36:36 (Serial:COM3) $GPRMC,033637.708,V,0750.1580,N,09830.5293,E,,,301 219,,,N*7B<0x0D><0x0A>
<GREEN>10:36:36 (Serial:COM3) $GPVTG,,T,,M,,N,,K,N*2C<0x0D><0x0A>
The 0750.1580, 09830.5293 coordinates are contained in the sentences (modified values for privacy :-), but OpenCPN doesn't use them. The GPS
icon on the screen
remains red. There are only the three sentence types $GPGGA, $GPRMC & $GPVTG as far as I can see.
I would greatly appreciate any pointers.
