Why does OpenCPN want me to sail over the mtn? - only half joking
and why doesnt it zoom in on at the MOUSE CURSOR !!!
dissatisfied customer - demands full refund!
OK OK so its free and I cant complain, but seriously, its 2020 and it cant figure out how to take me through the blue parts and avoid the green and brown parts?
As for Med maps... OSM-OpenCPN2-MediEast is all I could find and theres no depth info <FACEPLANT>
..and wheres all the community comments and anchorages...
... and how does google know there is congestion on the road <--- HINT use this technology
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...er-253296.html
...and where to get non "crap" charts for the Med without dongles (cmon seriously) - or limited time expirations etc etc ????
@FFFF end feedback
10/10 for effort tho !

Mine does zoom in at the cursor - order some cheese for your poor mouse, perhaps it will collaborate then?
Charts: at o-charts.org you will find a collection of quality charts for the Med. Not free as the licensing Hydrographic Offices don't serve the charts for free. But up-to-date. And with soundings of course.
The o-charts sets are earmarked for OpenCPN and require the corresponding plug-ins.
Ps. RTFM...

Do you feel better after a "good" rant, GreenHeaven? Hang in there. Planet Earth has plenty of frustrations, and laughing is often the best defense.
Google tracks the speed of Android phones on each road to determine congestion. I doubt that that is going to work for seaways.

That's not correct. The dongle is just an option for people who want portable chart sets. Or for those with unstable systems who require frequent re-installs.

The zoom to mouse is an option you can turn on or off.
There is a plugin for crowdsourced comments etc.
OpenCPN developers don't make any charts. If you have gripes about the charts, gripe to those people that make them.

o-charts is an effort of OpenCPN to get up-to-date charts at a reasonable cost. Part of OpenCPN separated for legal reasons...
And you are right in the sense that we do not edit charts. We license them and put them at reach of OCPN users.

No, this would require some specific plug-in for C-Map. C-Map is not Jeppensen any longer. It is part of Navico now. We have been in talks with them in order to investigate how to get this done but COVID and other circumstances did prevent to get this done. Not discarded for the future.

Impatient and unrealistic SCALLEYWAGS too lazy to read the manual and explore this software independently and then ask questions, will never end up using it. In the process they will waste other's time responding to dozens of questions.
Is there an opensource repository of humor? I would prefer not to rent. -You would have me rent?
