Where can I find the file for identifying the system in Win 10?

Hello,

can sombaody tell me, where I can find the file which identifies the system in Windows 10, which is needed in order to download S-63 charts. The path is shown in openCPN, but I am unable to identify the location, where it is stored.

I have had the same problem in win 8.
Problem is the file is located in a folder which is hidden.
Go to the folder that should contain the unvisible folder "pathdata".
And the turn on view hidden files.

It might be a different name in win 10.
Just follow the location given by opencpn until you get stuck.
Then turn on view hidden files.

Could you please explain step by step. When I open programs/opencpn and search for fpr02W nothing shows up.

My files concerning charts from NV-Verlag are located at C:\chartkit\bsbchart

You shall look at ..\ProgramData\opencpn\

To show hidden directories under Windows you will need to change the "view"Ansicht/Optionen "Ordner und Suchoptionen ändern" settings of the Windows File Explorer.

Thank you. No I found the file. But when I click to open it, it shows active captain locations and not the system identification code?Strange, Iam confused.

remember: the file is to be uploaded to create the InstallPermit, no execution, no double click...
Same as in the case of your MAC

I know. But if I open this file (see attachment) active captain locations opens. Ther seems to be no Identification code in it. I am still confused.

What happens when you select it for upload it to o-charts in order to create the InstallPermit?

Issue is solved - this has been a W10 install under Parallels/OS-X

Reminder in case somebody else wants to go the same was:
just use the .fpr FILE for upload, not the directories and shadow files OS-X is creating.

Disclaimer: nothing do with Active Captain...

It is very hard to make things more complicated. Instead of running OpenCPN with Win10 under Parallels/OS X it might be easier to run it directly with OS X. But users obviously likes the hard way...
And no, the Windows only plugins are not worth any other such contorted maneuvers.

you didn't get the point

The OP had OCPN with S-63 already running under OS-X and installed an additional copy under Parallels/W10

The world is not mono colored
