Weird double track, GPS settings? Miniplex? Camino 108 AIS? NavmonPC, FransonGPS gate

Hi,

I noticed a weird thing recently. Our boat draws two tracks on top of each other in OpenCPN.
Occasionally the boat jumps briefly back along the track and than moves immediately back to the correct location (at high speed).

I do suspect it's a setting issue. Attached screenshot of OpenCPN with the relevant NMEA phrases, as well as the settings of the Miniplex NMEA converter.

Brief description of our setup.

GPS antenna plugged into Amec Camino 108 AIS.
AIS plugged into Miniplex 3.
Franson GPS Gate 2.6 sends incoming signal to OpenCPN and NavmonPC.
Both softwares show AIS/GPS data.
I use Navmon in parallel because it has these great charts for tracking windangles and speeds over time.

I suspect we sent the GPS data to often to OpenCPN.

Thoughts appreciated. Thank you. Attachment 265712Attachment 265713Attachment 265714Attachment 265715

I think you need to disable ais own boat signal. Hakan or the manual will have the details.

Thanks. I will look into that.

In settings/connections, I would add "AIVDO" to "input filtering" / "ignore sentences".

AIVDO is info about your own boat from your AIS, AIVDM is info about other ships.

Alternatively you can add your own MMSI to settings/ships/MMSI Properties and set it to "ignore". CAVEAT: then DSC/emergency calls from any handheld VHF using the same MMSI will be ignored too.

This looks like you might have more than one source of position information being fed into OpenCpn. Can you enable the NMEA debug window and paste a copy of a screen full here?
