WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

I'm unable to get WR to work in ver 4.4
Has anyone been successful?

I'm using the newest version (weather_routing_pi-.-ov4.4-39e448-improv-gui-sean-master-win32.exe) and also tried the WR version that worked with 4.2.

There are some changes in the boat and polar setup. I may have missed some setting.

Thanks,
David

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

David,

Rick's (rgleason) post

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2145730

contains a screenshot that shows it worked for him.

My own builds of the Weather Routing plugin with OpenCPN 4.4.0 (downloaded from OpenCPN.org) works for me.

A "polar" file for the boat is needed in this version. The WR plugin for OpenCPN 4.2.0 could use the "sailboat transform" as an approximation to the polar data. I found that OpenCPN 4.4.0 and the latest code for WR will fail if the "sailboat transform" from OpenCPN 4.2.0 and an older WR is still in "C:\programdata\opencpn...". Switching the boat configuration to use a polar data file fixed it.

Paul is correct about the location of the polar files. See the weather_routing thread please.

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

I was using a polar in the previous versions.
In 4.4 I created a new boat.xml file and "added" the original polar.
This did not work.
I then tried some of the given polars and still could not get it to work.

RESOLVED WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

Issue resolved.

Moved the polar file from its usual place in the Program File tree and put it in a writable folder (without admin rights)

Sorry, its beta. You will have to read the other post carefully or wait for release. It works if you set it up properly.

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

I am sorry about the writable error. I have fixed the error reporting to inform this, but more importantly, I am going to figure a way to make it work correctly without requiring the polars to be writable.

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

Hi,

got (maybe the same?) prob.

Using a pi2 with newest jessie, oc 4.4 wr-plugin and climatology plugin. Using the ready-build packages from the ppa.

When starting the wr-plugin I get an error message like (in short words) "no climatology data" but before starting wr I activate the climatology plugin and I can see the climatology data on the screen.
Trying to copy the data Folder to an other place but this does not solve the prob.

In the config-window the climatology-button is greyed out.
Using the grib optin produce an error "incompatible grid data"

Sugestions?

Thanks

Andreas

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

did you try building weather routing from source?

The packaged plugins are in sync with 4.2 not 4.4 but the source of the plugins works in 4.4

I'm sorry I don't follow what you did to solve the same issue I'm having with WR. my boat polar is opencpn/plugins/weather_routing are you saying put it some other file location? meaning the boat polar? or the whole weather_routing folder?

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

not sure whats going on but when I try to pick a xml file I get an error message saying no file exists. when I import my boats polar to weatherrouting plugin I get this error message. I had opencpn 4.2 and the default boat.xml existed I exchanged it for my own file. not able to do it here.
this plugin came from the thingy file location and most recent fixes 4.4pi Win location
when I had 4.2 ver. I believe I created a boat charteristic file or xml file, not sure where that appears now. kinda lost

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

Silver Surfer, the file from thingie works but you have to change paths for polar files etc from ProgramFiles (x86) to ProgramData ....

Look back in the thread I describe this more completely.

Re: WeatherRouting_pi in ver 4.4 - Working for anyone?

Thx but I think this is beyond my skills in setting up the WR to work fine for me. Don't not see where I configure my boat for a .xml file. Have a .pol polar file but get an error message again. Uninstalling 4.4 and going back to 4.2 I guess
Thx again
