Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

I have just upgraded Open CPN to version 4 and have installed the following plugins: grib, climatology, weather routing and weatherfax. They all showed up in the settings/Plugins/ screen and have been enabled EXCEPT for weatherfax which is definitely in the same folder as the others but does not appear on the screen to enable it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maajhire,

You don't indicate which OS you are using, but if Windows, did you try the
latest beta of weatherfax for 4.0.0 on this location?
Opencpn Beta File Thingie rguser rgpass
Select 4.0.0 PI Win and take weatherfax from there.

All this assuming that you downloaded weatherfax from the Opencpn plugin download page.
That plugin is kind of old.

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

THANKS Peter

Appreciate the advice and that makes sense. I am using windows and did download from the downloads Page.....I did think it could be pretty old. I used your link but it seems I need a username and password to enter the Thingie site? There did not seem to be an option to register.......

Regards

OK

I got into the site, found the weatherfax link under version 4 and downloaded it. Exactly the same result. It is sitting in the plugins folder in Open cpn but does not show on the Plugins/Options screen in order to enable it. STRANGE.......

Yes, when I load the plugin in my virtual windows I see the same problem.
In the opencpnlog file I see the following:

12:06:48 PM: PlugInManager: Loading PlugIn: C:\Program Files\OpenCPN\plugins\weatherfax_pi.dll
12:06:48 PM: Error: Failed to load shared library 'C:\Program Files\OpenCPN\plugins\weatherfax_pi.dll' (error 126: module not found.)
12:06:48 PM: PlugInManager: Cannot load library: C:\Program Files\OpenCPN\plugins\weatherfax_pi.dll

So it looks like we are missing a library??
As I cannot build for windows I cannot help further here, sorry.

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

I wonder what module not found means. Is this the latest beta of weatherfax?

Sean,

According to timestamp the plugin was build on 27 Apr 2015.
I assume that Rick build it with the last build and included all necessary libs and files according to the Readme file.

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

Hi all...
I have sent Sean a pull request fixing the missing portaudio DLL problem and refreshed the package on the download page.

If you will still see a problem with the new package (unlikely if you don't have a fresh installation of Windows XP), get and install also https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=5582

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

Quick response all....thank you. I tried the refreshed download and also installed the suggested Microsoft download but still not showing in tools/options so will await Sean's fix. It seems we have another week now as a typhoon is heading across our route to Japan.........

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

Maajhire...
Can you confirm that portaudio_x86.dll is now in your c:\program files\opencpn?
I doubt there will be any fix from Sean as he does not use windows at all...

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

Pavel....

The file is not in there. Nor can I find it elsewhere except for downloads. The link downloads the file vcredist_x86.exe. Is this correct? The installation process does not give the opportunity to select a file to put it in. I am running Windows 7 on a Panasonic Toughbook. Sorry....I am a yachtie, and this is not my forte.......but I am learning!

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

Maajhire...
This file is installed with the plugin, not with the Microsoft redistributable.
Are you absolutely sure you downloaded and installed the repackaged plugin from Download opencpnplugins from SourceForge.net ?

Re: Weatherfax PLugin Not in settings

1. Need a username and password Ptulp gave - rguser and rgpass
2. I just compiled Sean's version (accepted Pavel's changes) which is named
weatherfax_pi-1.3b-ov4.0-improv-packaging-win32
find it under 4.0 Win PI directory.
3. I just installed and ran it using Opencpn 4.0 and it shows up and works fine with Win 7 OS.

Try that file please and if that does not work, please try the earlier file that I had on File thingie before recent changes that also works...
weatherfax_pi-1.3-ov4.0-older-win32
also under 4.0 Win PI folder.

Please let us know what you find out. Thanks.
This is a little puzzling because Pavel's OpencpnPlugins download file also worked for me
weatherfax_pi-1.3a-win32.

I will check my plugins directory for libs.
I mentioned this possibility to Pavel earlier, and tried compile his version and install and it worked for me, but maybe I have a lib that is not in the plugin?
