Re: WeatherFax ...
Carcode, the website is not "completely broken" it needs a few fixes on the Downloads Page, something that is happening now probably. For someone who has been very helpful, and provided good OpenCPN support, saying this really confuses people. Also please keep in mind that this is an opensource "community" and we all volunteer our time to this endeavor.
Thanks, so much for bringing our failures to the fore so that we correct them, just add a little humility and try to be more gentle with us imperfect humans....and we will all be happier.

Re: WeatherFax ...
I'm not the one responsible for flyspray, but I don't believe it will be removed.

Re: WeatherFax ...
The problem I see is the more negative issues arises (dead Flyspray, home page without working links, not updated manual and so on) the more people abandon OpenCPN or are pushed back.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Carcode, lets get practical here, Flyspray contains the results of may user feature requests for improvement of OpenCPN. If we were to remove these we would be removing user guidance for consideration by programers with regard to future versions and improvements. We often see reference to flyspray when improvements are made. Flyspray also contains history of bug fixes, etc. which can be useful. It is true that Issues is used now for more immediate things.

Re: WeatherFax ...
rgleason
I have pointed out that it is not only Flyspray which is even missing a chapter for 5.2.4 but also other things like an outdated manual shipped together with OpenCPN (updated only with an obviously hard to find supplemental page), bad maintained website and other things.
The problem is when something is invented it must be maintained. So e.g. when you have a list of links to download charts then this list must be always updated otherwise it is useless very soon. Same with other link lists as in e.g. in Weatherfax. Same for all other things I pointed to.
The way this project is handled is very critical. It seems for me no one is really responsible for anything but anybody is able to change anything.

Re: WeatherFax ...
At least we know who is responsible for constant feed of FUD, useless and misleading statements and is never ever going to contribute anything useful back to the project. Seems we are not completely doomed yet.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Carcode you could contribute to rewrite of the manual, instead you complain. I thought there was hope when you started providing really good onllne support and helped Mac Users. What you are doing now is counter productive and does not work in an open source community. Do you remember this the troll? Don't be one. You can be a nice guy and be effective too. What happened to our old Carcode, the one with a sense of humor?
Quite frankly, I am not able to rewrite the manual alone, it will require many of us. I have work to do on plugins and a life to lead with other deadlines, and furthermore we are starting to figure out how to do it in the best way. These things take time and trial. See what Mike has done with shipdriver documentation.
Why don't you make your own thread for "FUD and other Belly Aching" rather than littering up this one?

WeatherFax ...
Are there any stats which show that people read the manual? I think manuals just need to be built in into software in form of notes in appropriate dialogs and input fields. It’s better to focus on improvements and bugs.
Well setup manual might make sense. But day to day use one should be part of the software.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Mike
PI Manuals are used. I have no data. They are useful for new users. They are also being translated and moved to github antora/assiidoc. However I am apprehensive that users will not be able to maintain them as they do not use git. We will see how it works.

Seems that the URL of NOAA ocean weather has changed. Who will change the HTML file? If I change it by myself it does not work, where is it stored for program use?
