Re: WeatherFax ...
your screenshot reveals a bug in the gui.
The rtlsdr support in weatherfax is currently half-baked.

Please don't, we all make those kinds of mistakes. Hope it is working now for you. ---Looks so.
Sean, thanks for your info. Perhaps you know what/how to fix it? Or do you need some testers?

Done it with a raspberry pi running gqrx using a fun cube dongle. Recorded the audio then used jvcomm on a laptop to decode, after changing the bit rate of tbe file on tje Pi using SOX. Right on tbe edge of capacity for tbe Pi but it worked.

Congratulations
On my to do list is to get the funcube pro plus to work with opencpn and macOS Mojave I do have a pi2 to play with one day.
I will check out GQRX again
Opencpn supports the realtech dongles so it shouldn’t be too hard

See my post #1258 on this thread. I don't think the antenna needs to be as elaborate as I've described there.
Having said all that, I also followed RGleason's suggestion and installed HFWeather fax on a Smasung Galaxy smartphone and put it beside the little Degen radio I mentioned, and using just it's own telescopic antenna, it worked!!!

That's great. It's enough to have a good idea of the weather.

Atm i have a bit of wire plugged into the dongle so elaborate helps with poor signal conditions but plenty of rx options for wx fax
Have to sort out the funcube with the rtl interface, it is on the backburner until i can sort my present project out.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Is this all just test bench stuff or have you pulled any wxfax in an offshore scenario?

Re: WeatherFax ...
Not "bench test" at all. Sean used it sailing most of the way around the world.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Ramsey,
I am working on Tactics builds, once that is done, if it compiles easily for mac with no errors (sometimes wxwidgets gets fussy) then you can test it for us. Ok? Give me a week.

Re: WeatherFax ...
I believe Ron Southworth has done a great job building for MacOS, I think he has already done the weatherfax plugin for MacOS. Have you looked at the downloads page? Have you checked out his repository? Here
https://github.com/scadaperspective/OpenCPN5/releases
--nope it is not there. Maybe he can build it for you before I can. I'll ask him..

None of these plugins works because any installer of them test for the outdated version 5.0.0. The actual version for Mojave is however 5.0.1.
It is not recommended to use any other pieces of OpenCPN not from opencpn.org
Knowing how to switch on a computer you are not a programmer already.
