Re: WeatherFax ...
Sean, there are two
#include track.h
#include track.h
in CAF.cap which is a library that weatherfax_pi uses.
When I comment one of them out the plugin still compiles of course.
Because it is a library I did not think it worthwhile to make a separate PR for that.
Also the PR for the "updatexml 2-18-2017" does not make any change or touch the CAF.cap file.
The udatexml xxx PR can be merged separately. OK?

Re: WeatherFax ...
Sean has merged a PR Pull Request on github for a major weatherfaxInternetRetrieval.xml and coordinateSets.xml Update. This update covered all areas.
There are some problem overlays which have been listed that I have not been able to fix, so if anyone has made one or all of those work please attach your files and advise which record or fax was fixed. I will then make a new pr.

Re: WeatherFax ...
PS Hans Hakan and I have been trying to compile weatherfax under windows. The release standalone version seems to work, but the debug version inline with opencpn has problems with an incompatibel libaudio module etc (windows is pickier), The result files are posted on github.
Until these are fixed we will not be able to provide debugging call stack error reports etc..
Thanks Sean.

Re: WeatherFax ...
rick,
Didn't it used to work? I don't understand what caused the build to break.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Yes, It used to work, but things have changed I think. There are svg icons, also perhaps the libaudio files changed? I just don't know at this point. It seems to me we were using libaudio files that were accepted, by the compiler, but the compiler seems to have found some more picky things.
I did lots of testing and left it all in Github Issues with explanations. How that will help. I started to try to fix it, but it is really beyond my abilities. Sorry.

Re: WeatherFax ...
I just tried to compile it again inline with ms vstudio debug and it runs but immediately breaks with the breaks reported earlier.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Great plugin! I use this plugin almost daily for work.
One bug I have run into is I get a "Failed to configure capture" when selecting "Capture" from the retrieve menu. I found that this error appears even on a NOOB install of openplotter (Raspberry Pi 3). I also get the error when removing and re-installing the plugin with apt-get as well as compiling it from github. Not sure if others get this error.
I've been trying unsuccessfully to get the rtlsdr capture to work. I am thinking this error might be why its doesn't work. With the most recent compiled plugin, I select rtlsdr under preferences, select "Capture", get and acknowledge the error. The program brings up the rtlsdr decoder but it doesn't seem to work. The stop button goes to unselectable after a second or so.
When compiling I get no errors and everything is found including rtlsdr.

Re: WeatherFax ...
After further troubleshooting, I get this error on the audio capture as well. For audio capture, the capture screen doesn't come up after acknowledging the error. This happens with a compiled plug in and with the a get-apt install.
Maybe this is related to Rasberry Pi?

Re: WeatherFax ...
there do remain some bugs in this plugin related to capture. Check the opencpn.conf and ensure the capture device is sane.
The raspberry normally has no microphone input correct? Did you plug in a usb sound card? I never tried this plugin on a raspberry pi, so that should be a good test for me, give me a few days.
As for rtlsdr.. you need an upconverter for this to work.

Re: WeatherFax ...
That's correct. I have a usb sound card. Raspberry has no mic in. Opencpn.conf looks good. Capture device is correct based on what I enter in the plugin preferences.
Is an upconverter needed if the SDR dongle can tune to HF freqs in direct sample mode? Mine can tune down to 24Mhz in direct sample.

Re: WeatherFax ...
I never tried direct sampling, but it should in theory work. I read plenty of reports that the noise is worse than upconverter. Also, the upconverter was already worse than using a cheap tecsun ssb receiver.
I would have to add a checkbox or something to the plugin to select upconverter or direct sampling.
What kind of antenna do you have? Is it active loop?

Re: WeatherFax ...
I'm using the SSB whip on the ship I work on. I've been researching building an active loop to try but haven't gotten there yet.

Any luck testing on Rasberry Pi? I've tried to troubleshoot as best I can but no luck.

Re: WeatherFax ...
I should have a raspberry 3 soon and will begin testing.
I have just migrated to this platform since my chromebook has died...
