Re: WeatherFax ...
Rick,
Did you manage to add them to the xml to make these automatic in the plugin?

Re: WeatherFax ...
Sean,
Believe it or not, I've been straight out.
I intend to add these to the xml and send you the result via git.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Perhaps imgkap with the lat1/long1 & lat2/long2 from the weatherfax.xml file could be used to convert faxes to kap format which has location built in. This way the downloaded and received files would be able be reused without having to use the Weather_fax Wizard to reapply the lat/long.

>imgkap mykap.png lat0 lon0 x0;y0 lat1 lon1 x1;y1 myresult.kap -convert myimg.png into myresult.kap
>imgkap -s 'LOWEST LOW WATER' myimg.png lat0 lon0 lat1 lon2 -f -convert myimg.png into myimg.kap using WGS84 positioning and options

Re: WeatherFax ...
Rick, I'm still not sure what good old weathermaps are...?
Now yes, It is pretty easy to make an overlay from another image you have kicking around... if you have a couple of calibration positions. I am thinking this is your issue??- you want to reload that image as a transparency without putting the calibration points in again? You want an option to save the calibration for that image rather like routemanager saves a route...?
...you can export the image from weatherfax to your chart folder as a " kap" to reload later if you want, now, but I am guessing you want the transparency?
Or is it that you have another source of maps you want to load "daily" with the calibration built in?
in which case,,,the xml file does look daunting!

Reference back and forth, bring up 24 hr, then 48 hr, then 96hr. Close Weatherfax.
Then 6 hours later have a question and have to redownload via internet or radio, or to use Wizard.

I thought it would import a kap, not save as kap, (will check) but I think it should convert the fax to KAP immediately and save it.

Re: WeatherFax ...
ah,so.
Well, "Export" is for you then.
..... I also played with weatherfax by downloading and saving a ".png" map from your links up-thread and then roughly calibrating it from the displayed lines of Lat/long. Worked fine though not so convenient as the way weatherfax works now.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Is there going to be an update for the weatherfax plugin for version 4.2 of opencpn? I've installed the latest version of the plugin ( successfully) but it's not listed in the plugins in so I can't enable it.

pcmm...
All the plugins currently available are updated for 4.2 and should work. Your operating system, please?

Sorry I should have mentioned that. I'm running windows 10. the plugin installs with no complaints from the installer, but just isn't in the list of plugins in opencpn. is there a log file that I can look at for failed plugins?

Pierre...
Yes, information about plugin loading is in OpenCPN's logfile (Read OpenCPN Installation | Official OpenCPN Homepage)
FWIW I have just tested the freshly downloaded plugin on my W10 system and there is no problem.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Hi,
I would thanks for your effort, it works great!
I like very much filters (especially "value 3").
Previously I used JVComm32 ( JVComm32 - FAX SSTV RTTY SYNOP NAVTEX program)
If I can suggest any new features which helps during setup and preparation for receiving.
As you can see on attached screenshot from JVComm32 there is useful two buttons that can quickly open settings for recording or playback in windows.
And if you received signal from SSB -> mic input in your PC, it is very helpful to have like in JVComm32 "Audio level indicator" as well as "Spectrum" analyzer for better fine tuning.
I see some info in "Decoder" section but visualization from JVComm32 for me is a little bit more clear.
I would like to thanks again for great tool to receive weather faxes.
Best regards,
Kubek

So just use the speakers and the tablet mic. No cables required.
What are you using for an antennae?

On that delivery the degen antenna was just Croc clipped to the chainplates in the saloon, which worked fine. Onboard my own boat I now have a ham set so that gets most use, but previously before knowing anything about antennas did caribbean / UK using a masthead fm antenna which worked ok.
Some sort of bluetooth audio input would be nicer for the off watch crew, not sure if such a thing exists for Android?
