Re: WeatherFax ...

Dear all,

today I installed OpenCPN 3.3.2410 and tried out the problem with the disorted tracks.......

What should I say?? I cannot reproduce the problem....

I went back to 3.3.2310 could not reproduce. Changed the language (locale??) could not reproduce. Went to 3.3.2330 same story now back to 3.3.2410 again, no problem, everything works bright and beautiful.

The only thing I changed was, that I changed the delimiters back to decimal comma and thousands separator "point" - so the "good old German" (and therefore of course correct....) settings. Reason was, that my banking program didn't line the "wrong" delimiters and I had a "minus" on my AMEX account with two more digits left of the decimal.....

So, the system is back to German local settings and OpenCPN and weatherfax just work fine...... even language changes ("Deutsch" English) didn't change anything.

There were no changes to my system, except I re-installed all plugins to get OpenCPN back to the level it was before - here I downloaded all the latest again from the internet.

One other point is, that Microsoft sent out a numbe of patches and I do not know, whether or not this had some influence - but as the plugins didn't change (still the old dates on them) it looks as if MS did something here, we did not figure out. Below is a list of all changes due to MS Patches (screenshot):

So, whatever it is/was, at the moment I would think - no further work to be done, problem (at least on my system) no longer reproduceable. OK???

Thanks again for all the help and comments. Also I hope, that Sean is fine.

Best regards, Uwe

Re: WeatherFax ...

Uwe, Thanks for all your efforts, and most of all thank you for checking back and advising of this resolution! It is a little weird to have had this happen in this way.

Would you mind closing the Fly spray bug report! That might help Opencpn to version 4.0 faster? Thanks again for all your efforts.

Re: WeatherFax ...

Hi Rick,

but of course, I think this entry in flyspray is obsolete now.
I am definitely "flabbergasted" that this works now - again..... (you can imagine my face, not looking intelligent anyway, this came on top .... ) However, I hope you do not want me to dig into the MS patches to find out which had the change in it ???

First I thought there was a change in OpenCPN, but going back and forth and changing languages etc. I think it is clear, there was some influence from the outside.... It is not quite satisfying though, but I do not believe we can get any closer here (and it doesn't make sense, as it is solved....).

Best,

Uwe

Re: WeatherFax ...

Sorry Rick, just read your message again - can I / should I close the bug report? Or will you do it?

Best regards, Uwe

Re: WeatherFax ...

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether there are any plans to release the WeatherFax plug in for Mac OS X?

Thanks,

Joaquin

Re: WeatherFax ...

Joaquin...
Yes, there is a pull request making the release for OS X possible from earlier today. The release should come shortly.
EDIT: Sorry. it is for weather routing, but I will be working on Sean's plugins, so will do weatherfax as well...

Re: WeatherFax ...

Joaquin, Pavel,

Thanks for pushing in this direction.
I would also be very interested in having these plugins available on Mac OS X.
Please advise if I can be of any help in testing these.

Thanks to all those who do this excellent work !

Re: WeatherFax ...

Pavel has recompiled weatherfax_pi for v4.1.602 (found under Opencpn Downloads) also it is in Opencpn Beta File thingie

This plugin works as far as I can test it. The internet options all work great, and the HF Radio Schedules seem to work fine as well, yet I do not have equipment to do the automatic audio captures.

Sean has added a feature to allow application of the coordinates if you recently downloaded the weather faxes. This is very useful. Sometime in the future he may be implementing the use of kap files which save the coordinate information with the image. This will be very useful for viewing historical downloads, because you could just select them and view them overlaid on the chart without having to enter coordinates through the wizard. (However the new prompt makes it pretty painless to apply the coordinates anyway!)

Re: WeatherFax ...

Hi,
Sorry to dig up an old thread.
I've just upgraded to OpenCPN Version: 4.1.1108-0~precise1

Most things are sweet, until WeatherFax is requested to be installed, when this error is given.
"opencpn-plugin-weatherfax : Depends: wx2.8-i18n but it is not going to be installed"
Have wx3.0-i18n (3.0.0-2ubuntu1~precise1) installed.
Have attempted to downgrade wx to 2.8, but OpenCPN upgraded it (didn't pin the downgrade).

The post above suggests WeatherFax has been upgraded to OCPN 4, but maybe the linux package has not?

Was unable to find the linux download discussed above, the above may only be a Windows version.

Is there a way to get WeatherFax on OCPN V4 under Linux?

Cheers

If your building this under Ubuntu (I'm using Trusty) you need to install:-
sudo apt-get install git libwxgtk3.0-dev libbz2-dev zlib1g-dev mesa-common-dev

make install
will put the plugin in /usr/local/lib/opencpn, which may not be where you want it. I moved it to /usr/lib/opencpn where the other plugins are.

Hope this helps!

Re: WeatherFax ...

Yes you need to manually copy if you use the packaged opencpn with compiled libraries or vice versa.

Normally you compile opencpn from source as well so all prefixes are /usr/local

Re: WeatherFax ...

Just a quick question. How do I enter OpenCPN Beta File thingie. I need a username and password. Where/how can I get that. My username and password from OpenCPN site does not work.
