Re: WeatherFax ...
Thanks Uwe, for all your detective work... and Gerhard and Marius. Last I heard from Sean was Nov 16. He was in Panay careened for three weeks waiting for high tide.
We had been discussing getting him some Wind and Speed instruments that he needs to finish some of his plugins. A friend might have some, but not definitively (anyone have some older ones with NMEA output?)

Re: WeatherFax ...
Hi Rick,
sorry, but I do not have any functioning instrument available, that I could give away. ....
Best regards, Uwe

Re: WeatherFax ...
Yes Uwe, understood. Just listen to friends and if they are changing instruments ask them.
We should be able to find some good used instruments that output nmea by that route. I know Sean will put them to good use to improve watchman, recording polars, and improving weather_routing.
I just saw Sean post opencpn changes to github. So he's ok I think.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Uwe, what are you doing about locale settings? Using American?

Re: WeatherFax ...
Hi Rick,
first: Good to hear, that there is a sign of life from Sean!!!
Second - yes, of course, if I find anything or hear anything about available instruments (wind, etc) with NMEA output, I will check and try to make them available.
Third: Yes, at the moment I just use the american settings (too cumbersome to always change things and as long as I am not using any calculation programs, I think, I am fine...)
Best regards, Uwe

Re: WeatherFax ...
Hi Rick,
I think that is all fine. However, we have been digging into this for a while and everything seems to be clear to us then.... If bdbcat has any further questions, he can come directly to me, if you need an e-mail address or anything, just let me know, ok??
Best regards, Uwe

Re: WeatherFax ...
FYI
UK Met Office has a new URL for their synoptic/surface analysis charts, but I cant make out what the new URL is supposed to be. I did try editting the XML but not much success....
Is anybody out there who knows how to figure it out??

Re: WeatherFax ...
You can get the most recent Surface Analysis with this URL
Surface pressure charts - Met Office
Then the website adds
/#?tab=surfacePressureColour&fcTime=[some number as below]
The website adds
1418662800 for 0000 Sat
1418446800 for 1200 Sat <--- 6 hr dif = 216000
1418490000 for 0000 Sun <---6 hr dif = 43200
1418533200 for 1200 Sun
1418576400 for 0000 Mon
1418619600 for 1200 Mon
14 = 2014
185 = Relates to day somehow?
19600 = Relate to time of day?
76400 -19600 = 56800
I'll let others figure this out.
Where is the other data?
