Re: WeatherFax ...
Using David Burch's helpful quidance, we have updated the ASCAT files, providing new index files for B and C which really make this system easier to use!!! Bravo David, and thank you.
I have pushed these changes to my master branch repository for weatherfax_pi and you all should be able to update your data files by using the "Update Data Sources" selection in the plugin menus. Wait for these changes to download then download the appropriate ASCAT Index, find your location and then select the appropriate ASCAT file to download. This applies to North America and Europe.
We need to expand this system to other areas around the world. Bruce?

This morning I found that the uploaded files were corrupted and that the my SDcard D:drive no longer had my local weatherfax_pi repo. I think the drive is bad. I have now moved this to my C: drive and uploaded the correct files "redo" commit. So you can now "Update Data Source" and try the new ASCAT Index and ASCAT files. Sorry about that.

What we want to do is simply delete all weatherfax folders and subdirectories and most importantly the weatherfax executable file that is being used.
First remove the weatherfax plugin using the OpenCPN options Plugins menus.
The close Opencpn and find all weatherfax folders and delete them and the subdirectories.
Then restart Opencpn, update the plugin catalog and download, install and enable the most recent version of weatherfax. My theory is that some old files are staying in the system

Hi Rick,
Thanks a ton for the continued follow-up. I tried all of this (deleting these files, emptying recycle bin, restarting OpenCPN) - but unfortunately the one step I can't do is to "uninstall OpenCPN" from the plugin menu because it does not show up as if it's installed (it's available for download, but acts as though it's not installed). Even after deleting all the weatherfax files in the library I still get the error: "The following plugin had errors on startup - WeatherFax. It will be uninstalled. You might want to reinstall it after updating the catalog".
As mentioned, regardless if I update the catalog it doesn't seem to install properly, and remains down at the bottom of the plugin list where I can try to install it, but not "uninstall" or adjust settings.
Please let me know if you or anyone else has any other suggestions to try. Would really like to get this working again.
Thanks!

Re: WeatherFax ...
Hi Rick,
I've had a minor breakthrough - but am still yet to solve it.
Through deleting all those library files (and a few others) - I'm able to start OpenCPN without getting the error. It then actually lets me "install" the weatherfax plugin choosing between either 1.19.20.1 or 1.19.111.1 (actual progress bar goes across as the files install. Unfortunately as soon as it installs I get the same error:
"The following plugin had errors on startup - WeatherFax. It will be uninstalled. You might want to reinstall it after updating the catalog"
and then it does not appear up alongside the installed plugins in the plugin menu (remains down in the list of ones available to install).
Please let me know if you have any further suggestions (or if anyone else is able to help out)
Thanks!

Re: WeatherFax ...
Also tried opening OpenCPN In safemode which allowed me then to see and "uninstall" the weatherfax plugin. Unfortunately upon re-opening things outside of safe mode and going in and updating the catalog and trying to install it, I again get the same error. This was the logfile entries referencing weatherfax:
20:57:28.000 ERROR dlunix.cpp:120 Failed to load shared library '/Users/dent-dv628265/Library/Application Support/OpenCPN/Contents/PlugIns/libweatherfax_pi.dylib': dlopen(/Users/dent-dv628265/Library/Application Support/OpenCPN/Contents/PlugIns/libweatherfax_pi.dylib, 0x0002): Library not loaded: /usr/local/opt/openssl@3/lib/libssl.3.dylib

20:57:28.000 MESSAGE plugin_loader.cpp:1445 PluginLoader: Cannot load library: /Users/dent-dv628265/Library/Application Support/OpenCPN/Contents/PlugIns/libweatherfax_pi.dylib
Really appreciate any further suggestions anyone is willing to offer to try to fix this
Thanks,

Re: WeatherFax ...
I've seen this before and don't recall the resolution. I have used copilot to ask about it. This is the response. Perhaps other MacOS users have some suggestions.

It looks like you're encountering an issue with loading a shared library in OpenCPN. The error message indicates that the library `libssl.3.dylib` is not found. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:
### **Steps to Resolve the Issue**:
1. **Install OpenSSL**:
- Ensure that OpenSSL is installed on your system. You can install it using Homebrew with the following command:
```sh
brew install openssl
```
2. **Create Symlinks**:
- Sometimes, the library might be installed but not linked correctly. You can create a symlink to the required library:
```sh
ln -s /usr/local/opt/openssl/lib/libssl.3.dylib /usr/local/lib/libssl.3.dylib
ln -s /usr/local/opt/openssl/lib/libcrypto.3.dylib /usr/local/lib/libcrypto.3.dylib
```
3. **Update Library Path**:
- Ensure that your library path includes the directory where OpenSSL libraries are installed. You can add the following line to your `.bash_profile` or `.zshrc` file:
```sh
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/opt/openssl/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
```
4. **Reinstall OpenCPN Plugin**:
- If the above steps don't work, try reinstalling the Weatherfax plugin for OpenCPN. Sometimes, a fresh installation can resolve dependency issues.
5. **Check for Updates**:
- Ensure that both OpenCPN and the Weatherfax plugin are up to date. Updates often include fixes for such issues.
These steps should help you resolve the shared library loading issue. If you continue to experience problems, you might want to check the OpenCPN forums or support channels for additional assistance.
Would you like more detailed instructions on any of these steps?

Re: WeatherFax ...
Here are some graphic examples for the NA and EU ASCAT Indexes which are used to determine which ASCAT files to request based on location.
