Re: WeatherFax ...
Hi guys,
I've got Open CPN version 5.8.2 and recently had to redownload my plugins after one of the updates to Open CPN. In trying to re-download the Weatherfax plugin for Mac (Weatherfax 1.9.111.1) when I click "enable" after reinstalling the plugin OR when I open OpenCPN - I get an error saying "the following plugin had an error on startup - WeatherFax. The plugin will be uninstalled - you might want to reinstall after updating the catalog".
My catalog is up to date.
Is anyone else encountering this error? Would hugely appreciate if someone is able to either provide a solution or the developers are able to fix this version as I hope to head offshore soon and would really love to be able to use this plugin along the way (as I have in doing virtual passages to prepare!)
Thanks!

Re: WeatherFax ...
wxfax is next for rebuild with TP1.0.304 which may fix the problem, no promises though. See https://github.com/jongough/testplugin_pi/issues/177
I still need to finish/publish Franziska's excellent writeup and am working on it now.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Please see Franziska's excellent writeup " Weatherfax Beginners Guide" Under Supplemental Hardware in the Wiki.
I've also made a Resource section at the top of the Weatherfax_pi manual with a link to her PDF and Doc.
Thank you Franziska for sharing your experience.
Those who know how and want to try an advanced version of weatherfax 1.9.111.5 https://cloudsmith.io/~opencpn/repos...lpha/packages/

Apart from that I wasn't aware the weatherfax plugin is available for Android too. Surely will give that one a try to.
Which repo do I pick for Android 13, which one for Windows 10?

The android wxfax version is somewhat new territory. There are two versions available android and android-arm64. Android file system is somewhat difficult, I suggest waiting until I push this to PI catalog. Then we can see if the interface is at all useable on android.

Re: WeatherFax ...
I am trying to use the plug in weatherfax but I get a message “ failed to configure capture”. I am using a Tecsun PL 880 connected to Macpro. I can get the internet and the schedules but cannot capture through the radi. Should I be changing some settings or others? Cheers

Yes, thankyou. I am not surprised it does not work for macos sonoma 14.7.1.
Perhaps a macos programmer can fix this and make a PR?
I believe windows still works with opencpn 5.10.2 but hope someone can confirm.

Re: WeatherFax ...
Hi guys,
Still really hoping someone might be able to fix any error in the software or to help me solve the problem I'm having with getting the WeatherFax Plugin to work in the latest version of Open CPN on the latest version of MacOS. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Here's the issue again:
"I've got Open CPN version 5.10.2 and recently had to redownload my plugins after one of the updates to Open CPN. In trying to re-download the Weatherfax plugin for Mac (Weather-fax 1.9.111.1) when I click "enable" after reinstalling the plugin OR when I open OpenCPN - I get an error saying "the following plugin had an error on startup - WeatherFax. The plugin will be uninstalled - you might want to reinstall after updating the catalog".
My catalog is up to date."

Re: WeatherFax ...
Just tested it on my computer, it is working for me.
OpenCPN 5.10.2-universal, weather-fax 1.9.111.1 und MacOS 14.7.
There could be a more specific pointer to the issue in the log file.

Thanks a ton for the quick reply. I have MacOS 15 (Sequoia) - not sure if that's related. How do I access the log file? Will share it as soon as I find out how. Thanks!

Re: WeatherFax ...
Aldebaran 17
Thankyou so much for confirmation that it works on MacOS.
I thought it worked. but was unsure.
I think there is some unknown detail about this installation that does not work that is not being shared. Perhaps by clearing and deleting all plugin references to weatherfax, including the weatherfax data and the cache, then restarting opencpn and reinstalling wxfax, it might work. I dont have those directory locations for Macos right at hand, so perhaps a skilled mac user can advise. These plugin paths are descibed in the development manual.
