Re: Weather Routing

At the time this was done Tracks had the date and time fields required. Don't know if Route fields would now support this.

Re: Weather Routing

I'm pretty sure that even the original 2002 schema allowed for a time field in a route point. The current schema (2004) certainly does.
I'll have to defer to the wisdom of the author lacking clear reason to doubt it.
I'm just curious.

I can confirm using Win10 os Export of route does not work and is a bug which needs to be fixed, however Land avoidance does work. Please check your settings or create a new routing and try again..
I can live without export as found another way when you click on the actual route on the chart. However land avoidance still does not work. Win 10, Most recent OpenVPN (downloaded last week) and most recent plugin (also.last week).

I can confirm that both export and land avoidance work on Windows 10.
When you export from Weather Routing it will create a track which you can view in the Route and Track manager plugin. It will be listed as Weather Route + a date field. You can convert this weather track to a route in the same plugin.

The most common problem I've seen with land avoidance is not having the correct base map. You must have the high definition base map loaded for this feature to work.

Sorry, I was mistaken about Export Route it does work, read Be-Free's posts!

Also as I illustrated, in my post, Land Avoidance does work. Are you using high res ghhs background as suggested in the Plugin Manual?

I think it might be something you have not configured. You'll have to give us step by step and blow by blow what you are doing with screenshots. You should also read the other helpful posts.

I did have the most recent ghhs layer but I reinstalled it again and now it seems to be working. All good now. Keep up the great work.

Re: Weather Routing

Be Free and I want to hear from MacOS users about the attached polar file example.

Under a subdirectory MACOS_

What are they for and should we pay any attention to them at all and just delete them? Are they some security file for external files?

Re: Weather Routing

Jean, I don't use RPI. I need more information.
Have you installed the high resolution files mentioned in the manual?

It sounds like you have.

I am left trying to identify how to fix this. Ubuntu works as I have tried it.

Re: Weather Routing

Don't be ironic I can't give more details...
I just deleted and reinstalled Weather Routing plugin, deleted and downloaded again GHHGS in another directory. That's all!

dot underscore files on a mac contain extended file and directory attributes. macOS will create them automaticity on filesystems that do not support extended attributes. They can safely be deleted, or left. If you delete them they will probably come back.

Files that start with a dot are hidden files in macOS, so mac users typically never see these files, but copied to another OS that doesn't hide dot files, they become annoying.

Re: Weather Routing

Jean P.
I am not sure if all settings are the same? Are the advanced settings both set to default?

Some Settings that might affect the routing are timestep and the degrees the algorithm searches.

When routing through islands and in close proximity to land you need to adjust settings and do more calcs.

Wholy
Thanks for the macos info
