Now that we have all these great new Waypoint Icons, there are a few new things that that could be done to make them even more useful.
1) Allow the default Waypoint Icon for Dropped Marks to be selected by the user.
I understand that the Default Waypoint can be updated in the
opencpn.ini file, but it would be nice if this could be easily selected on a setup
screen. Perhaps it could be added to the General or Advanced tab of the Display setup options.
2) Allow the default Waypoint Icon for Route Waypoints to be selected by the user.
To my knowledge there is no way to change this from the default Diamond symbol. In the past, with only a handful of icons, there was no need to make this user definable. Now, with hundreds of new symbols in different colors, there are a number of situations where allowing this to be changed would be useful. This could also be added to a setup
screen.
We might also consider allowing the waypoints for an existing
route to be changed in the Route Manager, but I'm uncertain on how to handle a Waypoint that is shared between routes.
3) Allow some method of controlling the order Waypoints are displayed in the Waypoint selection box so that most used or favorite icons appear first in the list.
This was discussed intensively in prior post about new Icons, but I've included here so it is not forgotten.
4) Add some additional standard Icons as needed
It didn't take long to discover that we missed a few Icons! The second person who received my GPX file discovered the first ones. "Do you have an Icon for a Resort or
Dinghy Dock?"
Over 400 Icons and no
Dinghy Dock!!
I have contacted Weits on Revelations and he will be happy to create some additional icons. I'm sure since this has been implemented, others may have also have some suggestions. If so, please include them here!! I'll start the list.

And a special thanks to Dave and all those involved for implementing the new set of icons! They are a great addition to OpenCPN!
