View jumps back to small scale

Hello, my open CPN keeps jumping to the smallest scale map available in the defined set.
I am using a Windows 10 laptop (Medion), the latest version of Open CPN with O-Charts maps. Until now I have been using O-CPN successfully but since two days and a reboot of the laptop it flips back to the lowest scale map.
To my knowledge I did not change anything but restarted Windows.
I could not find anything in the manual, nor on this forum. Who knows what is wrong ?

Dave, attached two screenshots. The one with the soundings is what I like to see, the other one misses all detail. Using the control+left keys I can increase the detail, as per the user manual. But once I let go of the ccontrol key, after a few seconds, the view flips back to the right most chart without detail. the other screennshot.



I wonder very much if it is an issue with the laptop I am using.
The laptop is a Medion Akoya with 8GB memory running the latest W10. It is not very powerful. The last two years it worked fine though, since last Thursday the issue occurs. Before this message I have run al updates, including driver updates, but the issue persists.
