Ver 5.0.0 chart installation

I am having a problem that I've been working on for days with no resolution. The installation of the preexisting charts has never worked and the screen used to add charts in the chart downloader tab does not appear to be displayed correctly or it is very different from the manual. I have read all of the published manuals repeatedly.

Please help.http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...1&d=1568215817

Re: Ver 5.0.0 chart installation

What about reading the help which comes together with software OpenCPN 5.0 ?
Use the question mark button.
That should be the correct help and not all the other manuals you talk about.
Once opened goto: Getting Started --> Chart Installation

Snowalker

Start with carefully reading https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpnpencpn_user_manual:charts:cha rt_downloader_tab

A few things are changed in version 5, but nothing has changed relating to what you are trying to do.

Your Options->Charts->Chart Downloader Tab should look like the screenshot below after pressing the "Add" button.

Start with this and come back with your exact problem.

Re: Ver 5.0.0 chart installation

The online help files included with the install are what I have been using. For example the screen displayed when I click on ADD in the chart downloader tab does not expand like the example in the help file. There are several entries in the predefined list yet the screen does not expand to show them all. This particular issue has been consistent throughout. Note the screen shot in my original post.

Snowalker..
You have to expand the US folder by the + sign and walk further down to select a chart set, a book symbol, before enter a folder and add that set for a download selection.

Yes, thank you Hakan. I have tried to do that (clicking on the "+" but nothing happens.

That's really strange. Works for me and others.
In my system it's also possible to walk up and down in the list using the up/down arrow keys and expand by the left/right keys. If your mouse is strange? I'm on Windows, and you?

Yeah, agreed. I am on Windows 10 (home) running on a Lenovo Yoga 930 laptop/tablet. Given the nature of this issue it could easily be a Lenovo driver type problem but that's not comforting. Lenovo says the drivers on my system are up to date but, again, that doesn't necessarily mean much.

Re: Ver 5.0.0 chart installation

Try to go to the site of the manufacturer of the graphical card and update the driver (unless that happens to be Lenovo).

I think we need to see a complete session trying the chart down-loader, from the file opencpn.log. The whole file is OK too. You will probably find the file in C:\ProgramData\opencpn\
