Using Mouse to Drag Maps Around ?

I just installed opencpn 2.5 on a laptop with the allrncs.zip from noaa
no gps as yet so just using the program as a chart viewer

I was trying to jump from the the east coast to the west coast and
then while in alaska I was trying to get around on the map by
using the mouse to drag the map around. It wasn't working all
that well for me and I noticed as I was nearing the borders I
would see a green triangle appear. I also tried using the page up
page down keys which seem to work.

I looked around the user manual but perhaps just using opencpn
as a chart viewer is a bit out of the mainstream? If I did want
to review charts far from my current location, it is not clear to
me how to accomplish it. Thanks for any assistance

Turn on quilting and slow down. You have to give the area time to load.

To get to an area as a chart viewer,
click the redboat icon in the toolbar-see, you can put the boat where you want with a right-click as a useful go-back tool for chart-viewing...

It can get very difficult near the Poles too.Keep an eye on your latitude.Recovering from 89.9999 north or south can take awhile.
