The
west coast crabbers and towboat operators have collaborated to establish lanes free of crab traps. This effort has established towlanes, advisory lanes during crab season and proposed changes in 2017 for
Newport and
San Francisco. See

It comes to mind that this information would be useful to sailing vessels.
