Upgrading from Vista to W7: Open CPN issues?

Im about to upgrade my operating system from Vista to Windows 7 and was wondering if there is anything special I should do in advance or if there are any known issues to be on the look out for? I think Im still running a 2 handle version of Open CPN but as Im at work now I cant confirm. Would it make more sense to upgrade to 3.0 or what ever the latest version is now or after upgrading to W7 or does it not matter?

Thanks, we have moved aboard, sold all our shtuff, and are about to take off cruising this fall. Im very excited to start using Open CPN on a regular basis as I was just getting comfortable with it this spring before all the chaos of lifestyle transition began...Hoping to make a navigator's assistant out of my 7yr old...

I run Win 7 on my desktop and Win 7 Starter on my netbook, no issues with 3.0. I had no issues with 2.5 on the same machines.
