Updating chart catalog

I recently downloaded the OpenCPN and am eager to use it. I was pleased at how easily I was able to set up my Dual Blue Tooth GPS with Open CPN.


I would appreciate any advice other users might have. When I go to the charts tab and try to update the Washington chart catalog I selected, I always get "not available".



Any suggestions would be appreciated. Attached is a snippet of the error message I receive.

Try again!
I'm just testing your download, and have found no problems.
You probably encountered a temporary hiccup with NOAA or your Internet service provider.

Thanks for the suggestion, Cagney. I tried that and still get the "not available". This is despite the fact I have a good internet connection and can reach any internet URL.


I installed OpenCPN on my desktop this morning and had no problems getting the catalogs and downloading the charts I selected. I'm puzzled to say the least.

Some Firewall or "AntiVirus" running on the system that fails?

I second the firewall issue as a possible cause. You likely have to allow OpenCPN through your firewall. On Windows 10 it asks me if it is ok to let OpenCPN access the internet. If I say no then I get the problem you have.
