Re: Up-to-date vector charts for OpenCPN - oeSENC

Liburnian...

We need to get some debug information.

If you can edit the file:

/Users/darij/Library/Preferences/opencpn/opencpn.ini

and add a line in this section:

[PlugIns/oesenc]
DEBUG_LEVEL=1

Then run OCPN, with oesenc_pi. And capture the OpenCPN logfile output, posting here.

Thanks
Dave

Code:
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\oesenc_pi"

oeserverd -f C:\ProgramData\opencpn\
Then look in c:\ProgramData to see if the fpr is built, and the size.

If no luck, try the other way:

Code:
cd C:\ProgramData\opencpn

 "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\oesenc_pi\oeserverd" -f .\

If still this does not work, then try running the same set of commands as administrator command prompt.

no luck, Dave,
seems some issue with an unrecognized 'more' command.
see yourself in the cmd print.

Dave,
there was no section [PlugIns/oesenc] in .ini file. I've added it with the debug line and here's the log file.

Re: Up-to-date vector charts for OpenCPN - oeSENC

Just in case checked the wmic command on a W10 PC here and yes we get a command prompt. Other installs under W10 are running without problems, so it is not a general issue.

Seems then that your W10 has a problem with the WMI service.
Disabled or garbled.....

Sorry

SkipperEarly...

Seems your PATH is corrupted.

From CMD box, type command "path".

You need to have at least the first three entries as in attached pix:

C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32 \Wbem;

Here is link to show how to fix this:

Dave, Hubert - Thanks for your efforts.
Problem SOLVED
Have done some registry integrity checking/repair, corrected the path and it appeared that the WMI service was somehow damaged. Took me a while but got it repaired now and can report, that I could download o-charts and on first look all works fine now.

There is still this issue with the different filenames on the desktop and the progrdata directory but I trust you will address this in a future update.

Thanks for your guidance!

Liburnian...

can you please remove the chart set from your Chart List tab, rebuild the data base and then add and apply again?

And please have a look for a progress window, that might be hidden under the Option or the main OCPN Window. The Z-order of the windows looks to be confused.

I will try later today with a mac system as well.

Please do so and try the mac. The Z-order is even more desastros as usual for the mac version.

Gerhard...

my comment came from testing on the mac this morning.
That's why I have seen the progress/processing window under the main window.

OK, I tried, deleted existing directory, removed from chart list. Unziped again charts, added directory on the chart list, press Apply - program starts adding charts (unpacking?) and freezes just before the end on the last chart in the directory.
I'll try to (re)move this file and see if it's corrupt.... Nope..it freezes now on other file

Re: Up-to-date vector charts for OpenCPN - oeSENC

An interesting case as it seems that just one chart freezes the plug-in.
And only at macOS. And only in the oeSENC format. The original S-57 material does not cause the hick-up

We can reconstruct this behavior now, what is good, so it seems that we will have solution.

Hubert,
when I removed the suspicious chart, the program found the other to freeze , so it is not the fault of one chart.

Which ones did you remove?
OC-385-13002 is one of the problematic ones we think.
