Translations for OpenCPN v5.12 upcoming release.

Hello all.

As a part of the preparation for the upcoming Beta test and Release of OpenCPN v5.12, the latest template files have been uploaded to the crowdin crowd-sourced translation project for OpenCPN.

Thanks to some dedicated code contributors, a number of new translatable strings have been added to the source. We are especially grateful for some new and useful on-screen tooltips for the various OpenCPN configuration dialogs. We thank you.

The modules currently ready for translation are:
OpenCPN core
chart-dnldr_pi
dashboard_pi
grib_pi
wmm_pi

There may be updates to the translatable string lists in the next few weeks. We will keep you posted on such updates.

If you have not participated in the OpenCPN Translation project before, you are invited to join. It is simple and kind of fun, too.
Join the OpenCPN project at crowdin here:

Thanks in advance
Dave

Re: Translations for OpenCPN v5.12 upcoming release.

Done,

but a recursive question about the software.

when could be available a version for windows x64 and even further for windows ARM64??

we know that x86 versions of software will live for some more time, but windows 11, e.g., are only with x64 and ARM64 versions and not any more x86.

I think that with such versions would be a better manage of RAM, graphics and also faster software not running in emulation and running native to o.s.

these forthcoming versions would be a great start for it.

of course I know, I'm little maniac and in my computers I don't want to use any software under emulation, except OCPN that is really great.

Corsair....
We do not yet have the underlying library support for Windows ARM64. The support for Windows x64, while further advanced, is not without issues.
And practically speaking, legacy x86 support in Windows is not going away, probably forever. Can you imagine the hue and cry from the user community when their favorite app just suddenly...disappears?

So, long story short, not a priority for OpenCPN...yet.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

I understand and support yours.

You know that soon or later x86 will vanish in the cyberspace.

one year ago, there were not so much winARM64 app and now a lot then has been translated/re-compile to work natively.

and what to say about x64 apps, I guess that not so many people are now compiling their programs in x86 and yes, migrating everything to x64.

another thing e.g. Nvidia and AMD (I don't know intel but guess too) they are not launching video drivers for x86 anymore from more than two years ago.

also, legacy drivers for x86 everyday are getting more difficult to find, in the past there was a big problem with winARM64 drivers, because they must be signed and compiled for itself, and most of the times it was impossible to find drivers to work properly with devices, but the support now is growing.

of course, I understand that would be a huge effort to step forward at least to x64 but I see that would be imperative soon.

I look forward to seeing that day in the meantime, I'm enjoining navigating with my preferred plotting program (OCPN)

Corsair...

I think the sheer volume of legacy x86 code and apps in the Windows ecosystem will keep this platform around for a long, long time.

But I guess we can agree to disagree on the details.

Thanks for your comments.

Hello translators...

We have today updated the translation template files (.pot) for OpenCPN at crowdin.
Some new translatable strings have been added. Please have a look.

On Crowdin thats the way: once finished (or believing that), go back and forth through the pages until no "yet to translate" items do show up. It's always the test to run for completeness.

Indeed...

It is about the display filter used in the Data Monitor. Ticking the "Use Accepted States" checkbox makes some new options visible:

OK: Display messages which are not filtered by driver.
FilteredNoOutput: Display messages accepted as input data but filtered on output by driver.
FilteredDropped: Display messages which are filtered on input by driver.

The choices can be combined, they are not mutually exclusive. "Use Accepted States" is perhaps not the best label here, agreed.
